Because when everyone is yelling how I'm (A) scum or (B) not scum, it's hard for me to tell who on side A is genuinely scumreading me and who is just scum capitalising on an easy target, and it's hard for me to tell who on side B is genuinely defending me/thinks I'm town and who is scum white knighting.
