Governor has the ability to stop a lynch in progress by either sending a PM to the mod or posting publicly. In this game, we elect that person on Day Zero, and they can use the power once during the game.
This is a semi-common ability which, I believe, is described as falling within the Normal ruleset.

Edit: Governor has the ability to stop a lynch in progress by either sending a PM to the mod or posting publicly*
*Depending on the wording of the role PM/Mod's whim. Usually the latter. It is unknown which we'll be using, but given that the Governor will be publicly known and the use of their power will be immediately obvious, the distinction is moot.

How do you know this?

I don't see why any townie would not want to be governor. Governor can only prevent a lynch, the way this setup is we basically have to lynch correctly day 1, thus the only purpose a governor would serve would be to prevent the cult leader from quickhammering. Thus, any townie should be happy to be the governor, I don't see why they wouldn't.

Well, someone researched. I have reason to believe you are overzealous.

Given how the governor cannot self-protect, all the cult leader gets out of it is the ability to quickhammer.

I have several years playing on this forum, as I have indicated both in the sign up thread and earlier in this game. The only things I've done so far that weren't off the top of my head were finding the links to educate you.
@Who Are you serious? Really serious? Winning the Governor election in a game like this would practically be an immediate win, as quick hammering day one would be very easy.

Provided we are careful not to get people to L-1, which we should be anyway, it shouldn't matter.

Also, the better it is for the cult leader, the more any townie would want it, given how they are the only townie they know to be town.

Hey hello I'm here
My gut says that TheIrishPope shouldn't be governor.
Who I'm less so worried about.
Holliday I'm feeling good about.
ArcAngel I dunno.
Shall we move on to Night 0, or are there objections?
Doc as Governor?

Oh wait, you just said you don't want the ability, whoops. >_>

This is quite interesting, Candillan. So are you saying you want to be Governor?

I mean sure, I'm fine with it, but only if you guys honestly see me as being town.

So are you saying you
aren't
town?

I am town.

How would you react if I said I was town?
How would you react if I said I was scum?
How would you react if I said Doc is scum?

I wouldn't be surprised for anything but the second.
What do you think of Who?

by TheIrishPope
I can never really tell with Who. It's WIFOM this, WIFOM that, I'm leading to believe his "meh" attitude is hiding something. Instinct, so I'm not 100% sure.
I should be Governor.
I really don't see why it's bad that cult leader has this ability, because everyone would tell him to stop the lynch. If he doesn't, then you know he is scum/cult leader.

It's almost as if you're claiming Cult Leader.
Also, if we mislynch, that's pretty much an instant win for the Cult.
Also, I haven't seen much of a "meh" attitude with Who in this game so far. What are you talking about?
What are your reads on the other three of us?

by TheIrishPope
Who seems uninterested in my eyes, only talking about Governor ability and not really looking into the people and their intentions.
Doc startled me with the "TIP is useless" thing, but he's null to me.
ArcAngel voting without explanation or anything gives me a weak scum read.
Candillan is null.

by Candillan
So basically, we're all null with a weak scumread on ArcAngel (who has only posted once)?
Seems kinda odd to me. How are none of us scummy or townie?

by TheIrishPope
It's easier to say the lurker is scum at this stage.
With only 1 page of serious discussion I can't tell who is scum or town.
I am interested in your reads as well.

I already stated my reads.
Here:
In post 35, Candillan wrote:My gut says that TheIrishPope shouldn't be governor.
a.k.a. I think you're scummy.
Who I'm less so worried about.
a.k.a. Null, but I still feel something odd from that slot.
Holliday I'm feeling good about.
a.k.a. He's townie.
ArcAngel I dunno.
a.k.a. She's null.

You never explained why.
That is scummy.
