On second thought, I'm going to attempt to be as pleasant as possible this game.
Tierce: I don't think your post came across as RVS, it came across as very specifically snippy/accusatory towards me, and you followed it up with a vote. Please explain what you thought was "forced" about my post.

I can do the song and dance thing~
I don't care if you don't know the flavor. No one cares other than as an academical point of not being interested in cool Tolkien cosmogony/ancient Middle Earth war stories/breaking Plum's heart. Posting about it is pointless and I called you out on that with a vote because it's page 1 and I don't care...? You're throwing a fuss, insulting me and self-voting, why?

I don't know if this game is flavor heavy or not; I saw no such WARNING but I just wanted to make it clear, from the start, that I know nothing about the flavor so nobody tries to push a bullshit flavor case on me later. Still, how is that forced? Why is stating a fact 'forced'?

If you're going to tell me you're incapable of looking up names and events online, I'm going to flip a table, Reck. The roles even link to wikipedia, though I prefer Tolkien Gateway because pedantry.
Yes, the non-caps version would have been better. Look it up or ignore it or whatever, don't go LOOK AT ME I DON'T KNOW THE FLAVOR TOTALLY NOT MY FAULT IF ETC. That was what felt forced. Yeah, it's minor. Yeah, it's enough for a first page vote, and your reaction was overblown. Why the insult and self-vote over me voting you?

Because it's page one and I want to see where this goes.
I'm really not going to read a huge wikipedia article about my character; then in order to understand half the references, follow links to other wikipedia articles about other shit and blah blah blah. I put it out there because if anyone had an ISSUE with me not knowing flavor or if flavor knowledge was NEEDED and I just missed it, that'd be a great time for someone to chime in.

I really don't get why people sign up for Large Themes with flavor they aren't at least cursorily familiar with.
I will be starting the Silmarillion on the plane tomorrow.
Fly safe.
But the book you picked out is the wrong one for this flavor, or at least it's incomplete--The Silmarillion's version of the Fall ends as Tuor arrives at Gondolin. For the complete description of events related to this game, you'll want The Book of Lost Tales 2.
The timeline appendix of your LotR copy will give you major events and names.

Because I like Plum games?
And I like the group?
I know nothing specific about this flavor and I've been in every game and its BEEN JUST FINE.
I dont like this page 2 hate fuck already. Especially when nonsense like this is posted:
Reck, you've never said truer words.

Which part?
Because the first s part of an interesting pressure wagon that will be telling in how it unfolds given the players involved. And the second is out there already and will remain in minds. And I'd rather people not know if I'm going to take it back later or not.

Unvote, Vote Espeonage
I'm not moving this vote for the rest of the game.
If someone really wants an explanation why, thats cool but I promise. It stays here forever.

I'd like to talk about it.
Because it's a pretty convenient vote park for you for what is an albeit rare, but not universally shunned action to start the game.

I'm 100% serious. I will not move it. Every day it will come to land right here. Lylo instant vote cop cleared.

SpyreX.
Idk if you've seen Espe play much since his return but he's really moonbeams. MOONBEAMS ON MOONBEAMS, even.
Let's chat about your vote.

Sure we can talk.
In a time long ago, before I took my long break, I got ripped up after a game because I "let the scum win".
Because the scum opted
to play the game
instead of being a pile of lurkaderps. I said it right then, that I would rather lose to someone playing the drag them to victory.
AND SO IT HAPPENED *gasp*
Esp is playin (don't take an affront there) but I literally have no faith in a town that will not purge that with fire. Immediately.
So, bet your ass I'll comment on other things, but if it makes you feel better I'm now a tree stump and he's hated.
And yes, I'm making it very, VERY clear I dont even necessarily think scum there - there'd be actual thought and process behind that claim as scum at this juncture and it SHOULD require mad huevos because it SHOULD be lynched.
But, it doesn't change a thing.

I get your premise. And I definitely understand your process.
I can't say I agree with the premise though. It works under the assumption that the claim HAS to be lynched for town to be playing correctly. Then you say I SHOULD be lynched.
Those aren't equatable terms. Not to mention that you are going against your own premise, mainly because it can easily be argued that vote parking isn't 'playing'.
