The real possibilities for my peculiar numbering:

1. Numbers 3 and 4 are part of a CUNNING PLAN which has not yet come to fruition.
2. The 3rd and 4th on a bandwagon are always SCUM, and I am clearly innocent.
5. Three, sir.
14. Something ELSE...

Now then, given the mathematical nature of this game, it is only fitting that there be an appearance of The List™, that beacon of scum-finding excellency, newly retooled using the latest numerical algorithms, guaranteed to catch all the scum in the game (±4).

So, without further ado:

The List™

Aw, man. I was so certain my algorithm was right. Let's see: 1, 2, 5, 14...

I've read through the thread 4 times now, and can't see where the discussion of 3's and 4's was formed :(

Look at the post of miths where he omits points 3 and 4 in favor of 5.

I did no such thing. The List™ suggests as The List™ chooses. I am but the bearer of the Good News of The List™. The List™ will lead us to victory over the forces of evil, we need only trust in The List™.

But since you bring it up, why are you so sure there are 3? Hmm?

Now, why isn't

Because it's how I've seen a few minis. Either way, we don't have the nightkills to prove if there's an SK to go with the mafia yet.

And ubertimmy isn't dead yet because there isn't enough

I'd just like to note the "coincidence" contained in the fact that while Mith omitted points 3 and 4, he and Smashy are now discussing whether there are likely 3 or 4 scum in the game. This has to be significant somehow.

...And now they're wagoning UberTimmy together. SCUM, BOTH OF THEM!!

So when I read Smashy's first post, I was like "Ha, that's funny; he's joking around about knowing the setup." And then mith asked him to clarify, and I thought "Okay, so here's the part where Smashy says it was all just a joke." But then, Smashy actually tried to justify his comment, when he just could have said "I was joking around." Does Smashy actually know more than he's letting on about how many scum there are? Was he surprised by mith's response, and had to scramble for an explanation?

Possibly, and possibly. So, yeah,
FOS: Smashy
for that.

I have no way of knowing the setup yet outside of my own role. I'm just assuming we have a decently powerful town, which could mean we have scum w/abilities or a scumgroup with an SK. I was actually thinking that was a serious question, but I guess we aren't into the serious phase yet.

(And seeing what just happened, I bet the serious phase is going to start right now with a bandwagon on me  )

1. You've seen a few Minis, and that's enough to question the wisdom of The List™? Assuming things about the setup based on a few past games borders on Crap Logic™ as it is, but when The List™ is showing you the way? That's just foolish.
2. We don't have the kills to prove there's an SK. Or to prove there's two groups of Mafia. Or to prove there's two groups of Mafia, and SK, a Vigilante, and a Drunk Doc™. We also don't have anything to prove any of those false.
5. I'm not sure if the conclusion to draw here is that Smashy is Mafia, and thus sure there are three in his group (Mafia is no more likely to act certain about whether there's an SK than anyone else, but hidden in that is that he's assuming there's 3 Mafia), or that he's SK being slightly clever, or that he's some other scum being extra clever, or that he's a misguided innocent who has yet to see the way of The List™. Or all of the above.
14. Also, The List™ handing you 4 names on a silver platter, guaranteed to possibly be scum, in no way sets the number of scum in stone. The List™ works in mysterious ways.
42. What do you get if you multiply six by nine?

132?

The Mith-smashy argument says more about smashy than it does about mith, but I don't believe it's worth more than an IGMEOY smashy (I've got my eye on you).

Mysterious? There's nothing mysterious about an arbitrary list of names. I think it's the capitalization and the ™ that's got Mith worked up over this whole "list" thing.....

Also,

Arbitrary? There's nothing arbitrary about a mysterious The List™.

Also, noted that while you are clearly a heretic and should be burned at the stake, you vote with The List™.

No response yet from Smashy. He clearly believes in the power of The List™, but even the demons believe that -- and shudder. Or maybe that was something else.

There is far too much not-talking going on. Clearly the scum fear The List™.

ubertimmy, plead your case. Convince us that The List™, that infallible bringer of truth and justice, is somehow nevertheless in error concerning you. We'll probably lynch you anyway, since you're scum, but
you might give something away about your scum buddies
you might manage to sway us; The List™ may be infallible, but these other slackers aren't.

Or, if you want, to avoid further sin in blasphemy against The List™, you could just confess now. That's better for everyone really.
