If you target me with ANYTHING, you die - regardless of whether you're a cop, a doc, a RB'er, a vig, or a scumbag.joost wrote:By targeted do you mean NK-ed or would a cop die if he investigates you also?
That's why I claimed my ability so early - this role has the potential to royally screw the town if people don't know about it.
If you need my name, I can provide it, but I'd rather wait and reveal it later.

Yeah, I hadn't posted yet. This is the first time I've been on the comp since the game started. Are we still in the random voting stage?

Still here, just waiting for some more content-driven posts to appear
Again, I'm a little troubled by the idea of a page-1 roleclaim, but at this point I am willing to extend the benefit of the doubt and accept it at face value.
I am not all that familiar with SG:A, although I have read up on the show at the Wiki page. Are any of you more familiar with the show? If so, are there any guesses that we can make about the game setup based on the enemies and/or any plot arcs involving them?

I'm not familiar with the show because i've just started watching it from season 1 .. but this gamemight help us some clues about the game setup and such.. (Just started reading that one - will take me a week i think )Gemelli wrote:I am not all that familiar with SG:A, although I have read up on the show at the Wiki page. ooba, the SG-1 game is a redherring. There is nothing to gain from that that you couldn't gain from any of CDB's other games. SG-1 and SG:A are really two VERY different series, despite being based off similar base premises and taking place in the same universe.
The main enemies of the Atlantian people, are the Wraith and the Replicators.
If I had to hazard a guess, I would say the scum group is probably replicators. They can disguise themselves as humans and are virtually undetectable. If there are multiple scum groups, I would expect the Wraith would be the "SK" type character, with the Replicators being the team scum. If this is the case, I have a good feeling I could name the 12 most likely people that the game has as roles, lol.
Then again, it wouldn't surprise me if someone's role had specific information on who the scum group is, or if their role information alluded to the enemy(s).
Tar, since you've already soft-claimed, and are pretty much protected from being NKed, could you possibly go into more detail about your role? Maybe some more flavor information?

Yes as they target him at night, he never said if something would happen if he gets lynched. I don't think it will though.bubka wrote:@destructor: i think he was quite clear that anyone would die

Kinetic: From skimming the Wiki page on SG:A, I don't see the Replicators listed at all. Wraith, yes, but the other major "enemy" race in this series seems to be the Asurans (described as human-form sorts of Replicators).
If those end up being our two major scum groups, I would be inclined to think that the Wraith are certainly candidates for being mafia, since they are apparently a hive-style race with the ability to communicate telepathically. Which I

Does speculation about the mafia group(s) are really help? We Will know as soon as we lynch our first scum anyway .. For now what can we assume about the game setup apart from flavor ? - Mafia group (2-3?) , SK , Doc , Cop + townies ?Gemelli wrote:Kinetic: From skimming the Wiki page on SG:A, I don't see the Replicators listed at all. PS : If you guys could , could you refrain from posting any major story plotlines or twists ? I've just started watching and its fairly interesting - don't want a whole lot spoiled for me ...

My role affects night actions only.destructor wrote:What going on here? Where is everyone?
Tar, you're claiming to be like a bomb/paranoid gun owner? How about the hammer on a lynch? Would they die too?
Hammer vote will live, as will anyone who targets me with a day action.

I am willing to do so if, and only if, I hear other people request for me to do so, as right now you're giving me the very strong impression of rolefishing scum.Kinetic wrote:ooba, the SG-1 game is a redherring. I think in this case, it might actually help. We may be able to deduce some things about scum abilities based on how the races are portrayed in the show (see my post 40 for an example).ooba wrote:Does speculation about the mafia group(s) are really help? Too early to tell for sure. I would suspect at least one cop, one doc, and one vig on the town side. Given a 12-player game, I'd expect we're looking at 4 scum in an unknown configuration (two mafias of two each, three mafia and a SK, etc.).For now what can we assume about the game setup apart from flavor ? - Mafia group (2-3?) , SK , Doc , Cop + townies ?
I'll do my best, but again, I have never seen the show, and the Wiki doesn't really distinguish plot spoilers from basic premises. I'll use my best judgement in posting info, though.PS : If you guys could , could you refrain from posting any major story plotlines or twists ? Wow, never been in a game with a page 1 softclaim before. This is gonna be fun Right now, I'm not fully buying the claim (nor should anyone really). Luckily, it's brought out some suspect behavior from at least one person - Kinetic. Two statements in particular that don't feel right to me:
We've already had a softclaim but it seems like he's fishing for more.Kinetic wrote: Then again, it wouldn't surprise me if someone's role had specific information on who the scum group is, or if their role information alluded to the enemy(s).
If Tarhalindur does have a pro-town role as he claims, then revealing more info about his role would only benefit scum at this point.Kinetic wrote: Tar, since you've already soft-claimed, and are pretty much protected from being NKed, could you possibly go into more detail about your role? o.O...
How would it benefit the scum? I'm sorry, what part of "Information is the enemy of the scum" don't you people understand? Tar has made an interesting, yet very odd claim. Since he's virtually immortal though, how is giving the town MORE information, possibly about the scum group, NOT a good idea?? Its not like it is going to get him Night Killed or something!
I'd like to know more and I'm curious.

There are two big problems with Kinetic's reasoning:
1) Frankly, the only thing I haven't claimed about my role is my role name, and I'm a bit hesitant to do so in the hopes that I might be able to counterclaim silly scum later on (this hope is in no small part due to my experience in SG-1; I can't really elaborate since that game is ongoing).
2) I don't really buy the "more information is good for the town" argument. Frankly, there are many cases where going into detail helps the scum more than it helps the town, especially when roles and rolenames are involved.

Well I didn't know that Tar. -.-; I figured there might be a flavor explanation about your ability, maybe a mention on the whys it would effect both town and scum indiscriminately, etc etc. That information might help us out. But since you were basically holding that back, I wanted to know if it might be relevant. Holding the role name back is fine, I can prob guess it anyway, but that isn't the point.
Anyway, I've always found, in 85-90% of cases, that information is generally good for town and bad for scum. A well informed town lynches well. There are certain things, though, that keeping secret about is a good thing. Such as vanilla townies not claiming, cops not claiming, docs not claiming, etc etc.
Scum, I have found, are generally very tight lipped. They don't want to give a lot of information out because they don't want to be called on it when it turns out wrong. And I almost always find scum trying to stifle anyone else from giving out information too freely, since they will be held up against those standards.
Day 1/Day 2 this may hurt townies and help scum set up mislynches, but day 3 and onward its always much better for town to have a very vocal group.
