Shut so sorry everyone. Mafia was on a total backburner the past few days and it got away from me. I'm on a train rn, but I'll get a proper intro post ready this evening.
For now. Hi I am your IC which means I have played for a bit and know the ropes, hopefully well enough to help with any general questions.

Hiya Espeon, no random vote?

Nah. Being page 2 I assumed there's be some sort of trajectory already. I'd rather let that kind of thing play out. If I had read page 1 I would have.

These younguns and their new pokemans.
When I was a newbie user we didn't even have a fairy type.

Ok, let me do this properly.
Hi, I am your IC for this game. Basically that means I have the extra task this game of guiding those of you new to mafia, or just new to the Mafiascum style of mafia, through the game.
First off, I am a player in this game just as the rest of you are. I have a role pm just like everyone else and I have an agenda I will be pushing. Be it to get my scumreads lynched, or to get town misslynched.
That said I will answer questions on theory and basics truthfully as much as possible, and if the answer isn't black and white, to explain my stance on it.
We seem to be off to a pretty good start in that everyone has an idea of what is happening. If you feel lost, ask the thread as a whole. Town should bounce ideas of town, and this is at its core a team game. But feel free to ask specific questions if you have them.
You can also find a lot of answers on the wiki. When I am behind a computer screen I can grab my favourite articles as there is a lot of outdated stuff on there. But it is a good starting point.
Welcome to the game.
Oh yeah my general take on being an IC is to do more advice post game than in game. So I can give you a bit of a breakdown of your strengths and weaknesses then.

It was actually a pretty slow day for the past two days or so (I think it's been two IRL days). Trying to start up the thread again, I think there's only a few of us online at a time too, considering two people just got prodded.
Either way, what's the general RVS length anyways?

Fwiw I’ve seen it last into the hundreds or end in the 40a in just 4 games. Am currently inclined to view 64 as the default, at least for -15

Thanks teacher.
Weird background about me. I joined the site looong ago, but then forgot about my account for a long time, though I've browsed games before. Then I decided to make an account a few weeks ago or so, only to remember "Oh wait I already had an account", and just used that.
So I joined a long time ago, but am practically still a Newbie in terms of actual game experience. Forum Mafia that is, I've played Mafia before.

Oh I should post about myself? I played a game at a shop called "The Resistance" , some dude whose name I don't remember said that I should check out this site. Now, here I am.

The Resistance is fun. Can't remember where I first learned about Mafia though. It was either at a party a long time ago or from another website.
Right now game-wise though I'm really just waiting for the others to pop in with stuff to talk about too. Start finding them Mafiosos.

Ive never been the one to have to push conversations; I normally sign on and do one analysis post a day while others are whizzing past me in post count. But, man, is it dead in here, so I guess I will give it a shot.
I assume from the delayed start that not all players confirmed. And Dakster agreed to replace in but didnt post. Weirdness all around.
Since its a newb game, I will start with what little of this site's meta I have learned. It tends to favor quicker posts, with fewer words, and reads without much explanation (I disagree with this meta and tend to be longwinded in one post, but Im a lawyer and so get paid by the word
).
Regarding voting, lynching, and claiming: Right now it takes 5 votes to lynch. Do NOT provide the fifth vote without advance warning, absent a crashing deadline. You want to give the lynch target enough time to claim PR if they are one. If you are VT, consider whether or not claiming PR helps town -- it could out a real PR by a counterclaim, or put a real PR at risk if they are the counterwagon. I frown on it personally, but different sites have different metas. Here, as a site, it is very strongly frowned upon for town to fakeclaim (wiki search lynch all liars).
Regarding reading: My personal strategy focuses on motives, probabilities, and associations. For each post, I try to ascertain the motive behind it. Does it seem town-motivated or scum-motivated. To be sure, both town and scum have similar objectives, but they arent overlapping. Town is not as afraid of being lynched, because there will be a mislynch at some point; scum knows that their death is 50% of a loss. Town wants to out real analysis to advance the game; scum wants to repeat information that everybody knows so they can appear to be helping without actually doing it. Another key area of difference is in probabilities. Here, I cant say it much better than
a strategy article from the wiki: Use Occam's Razor with the knowledge that scum thrive on possibilities. Associations I will talk about after D1 if Im still kicking.
