My rule for meta-voting / RVS-voting:

1) If I was Town in the last completed game, then do the same thing I did last game (RVS vote if I did last game; don't if I didn't).
2) If I was scum in the last completed game, then don't do the same thing I did last game.

Last game, I RVS voted, and I was scum. Ergo, time to switch it up.

Quick comment, from what I've skimread I'm quite impressed with your scumgame Farren. In regards to playing differently as town or scum I think you're too intelligent to believe that will work when you've played scum well enough to know that mimicking a towngame makes a good scumgame.

Pedit good question PP.

Part personal quirk, part trying to figure out which is better for both scum and town play. I suspect the answer is more nuanced than I'd like - if there's an answer at all.

So, despite utilizing RVS votes and interaction to help determine alignment of two players in the game so far, you feel it’s in the best interest of the game to deny us the ability to analyze your vote and interactions?

Meh, my scumgame is lousy in general. Last game was no exception - I was lynched D1; my partner D2. I picked a fight with a Mason and didn't even realize he *was* a Mason.

Fortunately, I don't have to worry about it this time.

No, I do not. Nor is that a good interpretation of my position.

Everyone willl be able to analyze my votes once I start casting them. Not voting during RVS does not mean not voting at all, or even not voting during D1. Furthermore, everyone will have the benefit of knowing that when I do vote, it's because I genuinely want to see whoever I vote for pressured and/or lynched - making them more valuable to analyze.

As for interactions, that's pretty funny. It'll be funnier still as the day goes on.

Question for you, PenguinPower: do you think I'm lying about my motivations for not RVS voting?

I actually think it’s a fair description of what you have done to this point. Obviously you will vote at some point later on, but you aren’t right now. I don’t particularly think you are lying about your motivations at this point, but idgi and it’s the opposite of what I like to do and how I get early reads.

Hey guys, this is my first game on mafiascum so you may have to bear with me. I'll probably be talking less than you guys and just watching, so please don't think I'm scummy for it.

Hello!

Have you played Mafia / Werewolf before on other forums, or F2F?

I've played Werewolf on other forums and I've played Mafia IRL. I more or less know how it works and I went through the wiki as well.

Feel free to ask questions about anything, most of us don't bite, although we might accuse you of being a suspicious scumbutt.

It would help some to give opinions whether you elaborate or not. Don't be shy as the best way to learn is to do imo.

Sounds like you should be ready to dive in, then. Keeping your distance can sometimes be helpful - less time posting can mean more time reading and thinking things through - but it's not a good habit to get into. If you're Town, you have to figure us out - but we have to figure you out as well. The more you post with game-relevant content, the easier it is for us to do that. And the more posting in general, the faster the game starts tilting away from RVS and into the meat of D1. An engaged Town has a much better chance of being a winning Town.

After reading some of PenguinPower's past ISOs (Micro 898, Alisae v Pine), I think I'm okay with PenguinPower.

I observe that two people started off by voting. It seems a bit odd to me but maybe it's normal at the start of the game?

People voting at the start of the game is normal here, yes. It's called RVS: random voting stage.

Although with three people voting the same person, I think it's safe to say we've moved on from that point by now. Mildly annoyed with myself for not realizing Gyro was at L-2.

The beginning of MS mafia games generally begin with RVS (Random Voting Stage) which means we randomly vote until we find find points worth talking about that we find indicate someone is more likely one alignment than the other. After that you'll hopefully find that the game is full of content worth analysing.

Votes can be odd in and of themselves especially when you've experienced a few games and RVS phases. Randomly voting is usually NAI (Not Alignment Indicative) to the inexperienced eye or to people who do not put much weight into RVS activity.

What do you think about each vote that has been placed so far? Are some votes more suspicious than others?
