oh just now saw this. yeah my instincts told me im not the best role town has, i hoped so anyway, and if kitty is being truthful, regardless of other roles in setup, in my estimation roleblocker is far stonger than rolecop for town, depending ofc.In post 24, Ausuka wrote:Well, it's dependent on the setup. In a setup built around a town rolecop being powerful it obviously can be, but I don't think that should be the assumption- Ausuka

Town Rolecops are, by default, considered one of the weakest town PRs. Vanilla cops are usually weaker, but as far as investigative roles go, by default, town rolecop is considered probably among the weakest 5. Neapolitans are stronger, Gunsmiths are stronger, Cops are stronger, Trackers are stronger, Followers are stronger, PT Cops are stronger, Traffic Analysts are stronger, I'd even argue Motion Detectors are stronger (altho that one is debatable).
They are, by default, not a strong role for a town player.
For the mafia, a Rolecop is one of the strongest roles if ungated. Not the strongest (that'd be the likes of Neighborizer, Roleblocker, Strongman), but in the upper echelons.
And, situationally, a rolecop can be stronger or weaker for either side (usually, stronger for the town; weaker for the scum).
But by default?
Rolecops are notttttt a strong town role. They can see obviously scum roles as being obviously scum roles; they can see fakeclaims as fakeclaims. But beyond that, all they really do is verify information already there.- mastina

Fun fact about rolecops in fact; Rolecop-type roles are, generally, the type of role that reviewers will go, "the town needs alittlebit of extra power, but nothing so strong as to tip the game into being townsided, so they need another PR". The other PR added?
Usually a town rolecop or variant.
That's because town rolecops are exactly that. They give alittlebit of extra to the town, but are so weak that in most situations, they are effectively net-neutral.
I admit that as a reviewer, I have a bad habit of defaulting to that suggestion in games with ~3-4 TPRs in it that need an extra, but hey: it works. It does exactly what it is designed to do.- mastina

(Hilariously enough, in spite of me being a reviewer in this game and me having a very bad habit of defaulting to suggesting a town rolecop when the town needs alittlebit of extra power: looking at the review, it actually wasn't my idea. It was Datisi who came up with the suggestion, I just backed it up as being a good one that I approve of.)- Ausuka

i love town rolecopsI will straight up disregard all reason if you have a PR dream again. You can come back and be like, “I dreamt that Locke is a N2 Bulletproof Multitasking Cop and Self-Targeting Doctor,” and I will go, “Okay, Locke kill it is then.”~M- Ausuka

i think as someone who prefers to find scum by actions and words, and dont mind rolling VT, in my personal preference i'd say rolecop is strong, yeah mechanically i agree not strong but for me the plan was to seem like VT or unimportant/scummy either way, and survive and only role claim at the end if i have reason to strongly suspect that a fakeclaim comes from scum.
but i also hosted my first ever mafia game, off-site, since 25th July with it only ending like 5 days ago so i honestly think i over extended myself. got too abrasive >.< but yeah i'm feeling positive for town's chances either way.- Ausuka

I'm kinda surprised that nobody has mentioned a scum role that is ten times more common than strongman that would counter half the town's prs including bypassing a Roleblock.
If I were a player, my thought for any remaining scum pr if present wouldn't be a strongman, but rather,Spoiler:
But that might just be reviewer bias, since I know just how uncommon strongman is as a role.
Obviously not spoiling things tho. - mastina
