? Huh, why these and uncrowned vote for faustiv? I’d rather the pressure be kept on thomth at this stage

To be honest, I literally just wanted to throw a RVS vote on the worst and I did not want the fact that my vote would bring them to L-1 to stop me from doing that.
Votes arent random when pushing someone to lynch minus one.

RVS doesn't mean random nessisaryly it just means voting for someone for an asinine reason more or less as far as I understand.

I feel it is uncalled for calling Uncrowned out for something I feel is playing the game correctly. What have you done so far? I interpreted your posts as you saying OG and Uncrowned are not doing much.

I'm actually a firm believer there is no value in voting randomly yeah

Just vote for an asinine reason exactly as Thomth suggests. If it's to form a wagon, fine. If it's for a player who won't expect the vote and might be a little thrown off, fine. If it's a policy vote which will get some conversation going, fine.

Randomly lolvoting cripples discussion

Unfortunately asinine voting stage (avs) just doesn't flow quite so good

Also, this sounds super sketchy, now that I understand it.
In post 207, LoserdudeOG wrote:Just reread a bunch and my townreads are Creature, TW and Ldog
Why are you referring to yourself in 3rd person? Why are you saying you have a townread on yourself?
In my last game I thought the same. Someone who I was confident was scum did this (except he would do it like "
insert name here
(duh)". I thought this was scummy until I not only noticed other people doing it, but it was explained that if you DONT do this its kinda scummier. Why would I not include myself in my own town read? It also helps me_the_player keep track of how many overall town and scum im reading and how the numbers/relationships match up.

I'll accept that youre confident in your town reads and the only thing thats left is me, but you're wrong.
I've never heard of something like this before. Could you link me to a previous post as an example?

Regarding Thomth, I don't think he's scum, although I do agree that he's not being very useful. But I don't see why scum would bother doing such random, attention drawing moves as opposed to not doing them. I just don't really see where the scum benefit is in that, unless it's "oh, they'll think it's too dumb to be a scum move". It just feels like he's reckless rather than he's trying to get a lynch. And maybe it's just been my experience, but I don't think I've ever had a quickhammer in a newbie game from something like this.
I’m likely messing up the quote there, but I can see a new scum player being as bad as thomth has been. New town player...would they have stuck their head up s9 high.
? Don’t think normally just sit around and do nothing, are they ever as aggressive as this?
I mean, I can see that sort of confidence coming from town easily. Like, in general, I think that newb scum's first instincts are generally to be cautious rather than reckless, and it works out fairly well for them at the start, in my opinion. Yeah, sure, maybe thomth is being incautious scum, but I find that not really caring about how others will perceive you to come from town more often than scum.

Also, I know a lot of people have called Thomth's vote on TW bad and not beneficial, all that. I agree, but I just don't see what the reasoning for it being scummy is. I think he's just lynchbait, and there's likely at least one scum on his wagon. I think Arkias is least likely, though. I'm still content to sit on Ldog, although if someone disagrees with me and thinks he's clearly town, I'd like to talk about that.

Could someone define lynchbait for me? I think I understand generally what it means but i would like a more broad understanding. I cannot find the term on the wiki.

@NaCl My vote on the worst wasn't really a confidence type thing and I honestly was not expecting this reaction. I wasn't antispiating any reaction besides them immediately being unvoted any from L-1.

@NaCl Also, with the logic you used to read me as town we could also read you as scum since you stated that you wanted to vote the worst, but did not want to since that would put them at L-1. Making you cautious. Think I am bending the logic a bit but just something I saw and wanted to point towards.

Just since its been asked, and maybe he'll check in? who knows

there's kind of an expected "way" that people play mafia within site meta. people who play outside of it as either alignment are automatically kind of unconsciously binned as ~less towny~ than others just because they act differently. It's a thing which ideally shouldn't be a thing, but given the size and history of the site definitely is: people who play unlike 'mainstream' site players are easier to lynch as either alignment. Not after trying to sort their alignment, but because common site meta tells don't really work on them, because they don't play like a lot of people onsite.

So rather than thinking abstractly and trying to take a punt on their alignment based on abnormal tells, it's tempting to "take the bait" and just lynch them for playing abnormally.

This is a really common thing across all sites. You can read articles on how to look towny, and replicate the stuff in them; that really isn't everyone's style. Some people would rather just do their own thing.

Tl;dr: players who are hard to read but easy to lynch.

I think I have to agree with your post, The Worst. I think I'm seeing him as a bad player, but not scum indicative, and I've been mixing up the two. With his slot being replaced, there's a higher chance that his misplays will be corrected by someone else, and I'll be looking for actual scum indicative things over bad style.

VOTE: unvote

So allowing that you agree Thomth isn't scum.. who is? It might help to keep a tier list of your reads, from most confident town down to weakly town down to scum. Then if you find someone at the bottom maybe doesn't belong there, it's easier to evaluate where you might be wrong

On an adjacent point.... it helps if people keep their votes in play. I'd recommend voting for a scumread when you have a chance.
