thankyou for moderating. i very much enjoyed this game and would happily play again. i really like the guessing and i really like the discussion. when thinking about the problem all wrong, as was the case with the atlantic ocean, the discussion is very helpful to address this. i am okay with the same teams and i would also be okay with rerandomization. it is strange that the one whose mind is being read by the other players is referred to as the psychic but i may also be thinking about this incorrectly.

This is not my game, please take it up with the game creators! anyway I think the implication is that the Psychic is using telepathy to send thoughts rather than

receive thoughts

read minds.


edit: Here is a list of ideas for updated rules for the next set of games. Please give feedback if you think any of these should be changed!

1) Teams will remain at 3+ players, but we will aim to set up 4 teams to have a round robin kind of bracket-style thing (words are hard...) where 2 games are happening simultaneously with 2 teams each. The winners of these 2 games will go head to head to determine an ultimate winner! And maybe we'll do a loser's bracket too if there's interest.

2) When determining teams, players can decide what team they will join. Players cannot join a team that has 3+ members if another team has <3 members (ie we have to get all the teams to 3 in order to be able to play; once all teams have 3+ players, I don't really care where new players go). After the game starts, new players can decide which team they will be placed on. Players can also just /in for whatever and I'll put them on a random team, prioritizing teams with fewer players.

3) Psychic priority will be given to players who have not yet been a Psychic; this includes if new players join (ie I'll give those new players priority to be Psychic over anyone who has already been a Psychic in Game 1)

4) Each team will be assigned a spokesperson - whoever is the most recent person to have been a Psychic who is no longer a Psychic. The spokesperson changes each time the team gets a new Psychic. The spokesperson is in charge of making the team's official guesses, both numbers and Left/Right.

this might be an unpopular opinion, but i like how the game was run previously with two teams!

although, i don't mind if rotational teams are what the majority wants

I think it'd be fun if there were teams of three or four, and each team got the same exact spectrums to work from in PTs, then after a few round you see which teams scored the highest and read eachother's discussions. Like bridge scoring. That might be too competitive and not social/casual enough though. Mishmash doesn't support PTs but that's not a problem if you're ok with honor system which I would be, problem is people might prefer having about ~10 people all in the thread together

I forgot to mention that I will likely be shortening deadlines to the following:
Psychic giving clue: 24 hrs (most Psychics have given clues within like 3 hours, I will be fairly lenient on this if we're having problems though)
Initial team guess: 4 days
Opposing team left/right guess: stays at 48 hrs

this is a cool idea and I might be interested in implementing this as a "surprise bonus round" during the round robins, where I'm the Psychic and all teams have a chance to guess. I'd probably have the discussions take place over PM and then paste the text of the discussion into this thread when I reveal what each team guessed. lmk if anyone else is interested in this.

Atm I’m not sure we have enough players for 4 teams. Is everyone okay with going back to 2 teams for now? You can also choose to wait to see if more players join later allowing a second game to start (but can always change your mind and join an existing team later)

I would be okay with 3 teams of 3 too. It would mean that one team isn't playing at a particular point in time but don't think that's bad.

also, personally, i don't consider the idea that one team could copy another's left or right guess that much of a problem such that it makes three teams playing at the same time untenable


maybe if you want more depth on that particular mechanic you could even go with something like you can guess left, very left, right or very right depending on not just if you think it's to the left or right but how much to the left or right, and with different point rewards. that might be changing the game too much, though. just a random idea.
