That's actually a tough question. But since you've asked...I always have a soft-spot for
paperback writer. (Yes, I know the song it's from, and yes I know what it's mainly about. The title's grown on me over the years.) It might have originally been for excessively-long-windedness, but is surprisingly good.
I have a similar fondness for
stylish, because it was one of the first times people acknowledged that I was trying to reform from the bad person I used to be into a respectable mafiascum citizen.
What Would Mastin Do (And ETL's revival of it) has gained new meaning as of the recent in-jokes I've been trading with people, so it's no longer an AP-specific in-joke.
I've
thought about ":P" being my title myself. I loved
manual maker.
Stay a while and listen I also thought was brilliant.
For a change might be a bit generic, but I liked it.
Then there's Safe Behind My Walls (as discussed) and
scripsi, ergo sum.
If I had to pick a favorite of favorites, though, it'd probably be
Tome of Knowledge. But again. All of these are my personal tastes in titles. Not what the community has suggested as a whole. I'm not going to shove a title that I want down your throats.

You and DRK just couldn't quietly let Tome of Knowledge flourish.

Safe Behind My Walls
- it's inferior to several he won't accept, but still gets at the essential mastinness.

I think Buttons needs to exercise his authority. Abuse of Rule #5 is causing the spirit of Rule #3 to be violated. People, like mastin (& there have been others), are constantly refusing perfectly fine titles because they want to nudge towards a preferred title.
The Titling on his site has been a fine tradition of "hey, we as a site recognize you as having made a great, funny, and/or super interesting contribution to this site. Here's a title!" to which the recipient responds with "Hey! I don't find that title insulting! So be it!" Then the Title Fairy acts and all are happy.
Now lately it's a series of manipulative jockeying of "no.. that's not quite right. Try again, peons! I DEMAND BETTER!" and the fun is dead.
This happened on your watch, Buttons. Either fix it or let it be your shameful legacy.

I'm really not a fan of how the Mastin thing has kept playing out given that my entire stance on the titling process was to make it quick and easy to avoid long drawn out discussions going in circles. However at the moment given that it's the only game in town and not drowning out other title discussions I'm not quite at the abuse of power point at the moment.

Booo. Gotta take things into my own hands. Let's get a gang-up with this title:
mastin2 ->
Mafia Goon
It's the shaming title for those who refuse too much.

Actually I miscounted!
Safe Behind My Walls
hit the required 5 supports and Mastin seems to be okay with it.

(I can't unsee that image, either.
) Though the meaning behind the title might not be immediately obvious, it's there. It
does
define me a lot. It's not obvious, its first meaning can send off the wrong impression, but if you get the actual meaning...you GET it. So, probably not the best title...but one which I am quite willing to accept.
So we're going to run with it.

Not to defend mastin2's own ego, but if people aren't happy with title nominations, they shouldn't have to accept them, no matter how popular. Rule #3 is there to stop anyone just walking in and asking for a title like in the old days, not to prevent universally known and popular users actively participating in the process of their own titling. At least, that's how I see it. TheButtonmen can and should correct me if I'm wrong here.
(Not that it really matters much now, anyway.)

Hence why we should stop renomming people right after they reject one. Okay, you didn't like it, see you in six months when you've done something new and different for us to title off of.
It's the back-and-forth between the nominators and the nominee that gets into this sense of "you're getting warmer..."

Practically the whole non-mafia forums had become mastin-ego boosting.

Third "The Second Coming" for mastin2.
It doesn't reference the verbosity, but it's positive and works because of the WWMD thing, his resemblance to Jesus, Mastin's resurrection as mastin2, and the hype he receives. And it's actually funny, unlike milquetoast stuff like "Safe Behind His Walls."
I don't want this to come across as an attack on mastin, who often has insightful things to say. And certain people are being far harsher than they need to be. No one should feel pressured to accept an insulting title just to be the butt of someone else's joke. But "Tome of Knowledge" is just such a fawning, over-the-top title that it's only human nature to react badly to either the hubris in unironically suggesting it for yourself or the sycophancy in unironically suggesting it for someone else. People don't like arrogance.
Also, there's a trend on mafiascum (with fads like the Cult of UberNinja or the Flowchartians) that repeating over and over again that you're smart, good at Mafia, popular, etc., will get a large contingent of the site to take your word for it without questioning you. So no matter how useful you think mastin's MD threads are, shoving their usefulness down people's throats creates a backlash.
