The Second Coming

It's perfect. For me, the central subject is his megalomania, everything else about mastin just justifies making this the perfect representation of that megalomania.

You're missing the full significance of the title for a guy like mastin.
First, he's mastin2. MS received the second coming of mastin in order to be graced with mastin's mad skillz 2.0.
Second, he's an avid cult leader (check out his threads)
and megalomaniacal to the core - like anyone willing to compare himself to Jesus, either with PhotoShop, or with WWMD? memes.
like anyone who expects anyone to read the enormously long sermons that he regularly graces the world with
he even LOOKS like he's the second coming
Mastin thinks he's the shit; it's as if he's the second coming, itself.
But the way the title works is playful rather than satirical or snide. Being a megalomaniac has been shown to be an important prerequisite for being a good world leader. It's a pithy reference to loads of things about mastin at once without ever implying anything besides those things or existing merely to stoke an ego or quip about his post lengths which so many people argue "is not who mastin is".
It's perfect.

For what it's worth--I like The Second Coming as a title, and if Buttons decides to go that route, it's good, but Buttons contacted me about Safe Behind My Walls (and not The Second Coming), and I said that would be okay.

So basically, not my choice at this point. Buttons gets to make the final call on the matter.

The Second Coming is so self serving it borders on self parody. Safe Behind My Walls is at least a little bit more clever.

It
is
self-parody
that's the point

also, way to attack the arguer and not the case

This.

I think that title satisfied a lot of criteria for Mastin. And sycophant, I am not.
I'm sorry. That flew over my head (and everyone else's, I think).

I find the Jesus title arrogant in a
funny
way--it pokes fun at mastin without being mean-spirited. Plus it works on several levels. But it's up to mastin at this point.

There's been some interesting comments made here recently about title policies, my role and how the process is working which I'd like to address.

That's not entirely true, each title fairy has their own vision of how this whole thing should work. When Oman handed the reigns over to me one of my goals was streamlining the entire titling process to help get titles handed out a lot quicker and with less discussion. As part of this I made it so any title which got five supporters and the recipient's approval was pushed forward rather then having the title fairy make the final call about each individual title.
In post 2680, Kublai Khan wrote: I think Buttons needs to exercise his authority. Abuse of Rule #5 is causing the spirit of Rule #3 to be violated. People, like mastin (& there have been others), are constantly refusing perfectly fine titles because they want to nudge towards a preferred title.

The Titling on his site has been a fine tradition of "hey, we as a site recognize you as having made a great, funny, and/or super interesting contribution to this site. Here's a title!" to which the recipient responds with "Hey! I don't find that title insulting! So be it!" Then the Title Fairy acts and all are happy.

Now lately it's a series of manipulative jockeying of "no.. that's not quite right. Try again, peons! I DEMAND BETTER!" and the fun is dead.

This happened on your watch, Buttons. Either fix it or let it be your shameful legacy.
However KKhan isn't wrong here, in my attempts to address some of the previous issues which lead to title nominations stagnating I've opened the door to others. While minimizing the role of the title fairy in the process has worked fantastically at times (we've had multiple titles go from initial nomination to me pushing it live in under 48 hours) it has also also let to situations where we've had title nominations going nowhere because nobody made the final call to end the discussion.
In post 2688, Mr. Flay wrote:Hence why we should stop renomming people right after they reject one. Okay, you didn't like it, see you in six months when you've done something new and different for us to title off of.
This would certainly solve the problem and isn't the worst idea but I agree with Faraday that there are better ways of addressing the issue then making this an explicit rule.

Overall I don't think that these issues are a symptom of an inherent flaw in the current titling process or the result in scummers trying to have too much control over their title but rather it's a failure on my part.

Going forward from here I need to be more proactive in ensuring that the thread isn't preseverating about a scummers nomination and in reminding myself that the perfect is the enemy of the good when it comes to pushing titles forward.

On that note I'm happy to award Mastin2 the title of
The Second Coming
!

The criticism in this thread re titles was for being too lenient in this process, and now stuff has swung you've swung COMPLETELY in the opposite direction and and negative post is being deleted willy nilly.

WTF.
KK's post was his opinion about one of the titles mastin was nom'ed for, your post was an attempt to be funny.

However feel free to PM me if you've got any further questions, comments or concerns about any acts of moderation I inflict upon this thread.

nominate Om of the Nom for
Totally Mature

taken from this post: http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.ph ... 5#p5516955

I think it neatly sums up both his youthful 'look at me' persona as well as his growth into a responsible spam remover

like, he actually is pretty mature now, but that chirpy little 12 year old is still there.

idk

What's the story there? While I'm down for revamping old titles I must admit I'm a fan of Kison's current one.

In order to entice Kison to do any sort of coding, he jokingly requests that the request be made in haiku form.

As much as I also really like the .GIFted one, I don't think he's done any gifs in a while. Feels a little vestigial, like Flay's Wiki'd title.

While true about his current title, Kison isn't the one bribing. Other people post haiku to try to get us to do stuff...

That's what makes the title work, though. Kison's the one accepting haiku bribes. The suggested title in a codey way of saying "go out and get the bribe, bring it here".

I'd second if the bribing actually worked :(
