I'm still bitter about varsoon getting banned and then bauss won't be banned for this gigantic waste of my time.
There's a dramatic difference between Varsoon claiming his alignment truthfully EVERY game, and me knowing Rank was scum because he subbed out once out of 50 games. I don't agree with the Varsoon ban myself, but trying to draw a parallel between that and what happened this game is pretty far off. I even apologized to you directly and openly in thread because I felt bad you subbed into that. That was genuine. And kudos for sticking it out and going down swinging.

Regarding the Rank-trust-tell controversy, I think this particular instance of the use of alignment-indicative "tell" by Bauss to mark someone as scum should be labelled as a meta-tell and not as a trust-tell. I see very little to no difference between this Rank tell and the "transparent" TIP tell.
"TIP's town behavior is A and B and not C. TIP has been behaving like A and B and not C. Therefore, TIP must be town"
"Rank's town behavior is not D. Behavior D has been observed from Rank. Therefore, Rank must not be town"
As Natirasha pointed out, if you really must place the blame on someone, the root cause is initiated by the very act of Rank replacing out. However, this is a special case since this act of replacing out means the player is no longer in the game, but the slot remains to be filled by another. Since the argument is attached to the predecessor, the successor cannot wiggle his way out of this no matter what.

This.
I have a lot of ethical issues about replacing out ever, because it is alignment indicative for a lot of people (which constitutes a trust tell because it's a definitive action that telegraph's one's alignment). I still feel bad that I had to replace out of a game earlier this summer, and I learned my lesson about overloading on games as a result :/
ftr Varsoon totes deserved his ban for claiming alignment for like 5 games in a row.

It sucks that games last so long and that replacements are a thing that are so frequent.

I have yet to replace out of a game
I thi k once you sign up for a game you're gonna need a damn good reason to replace out. If you're going away in a month don't sign up for a game that's going to take a lot more than that long. Also don't replace out because you get a certain alignment >:(

If Mara was scum, would she really pull the exact same stunt on my slot that she did in Hard Boiled? Maybe not.
Stunt?
I don't really know what you're talking about, lol. Starting off, you legit gave me some weird vibes early on that I would have attacked as town. the only stunt I pulled was the back-off on my read on you and switching from attack mode to buddy-up mode

I didn't like the fake-cop guilty, and I would have hated it even more if I was town. I can appreciate gambits, I have pulled some in the past and MC Mara games are so full of gambits (mostly made by C) that I know where they are headed.
I understand the feeling of never being listened to, but lying about something and not admitting that it's a lie isn't going to do anything. Other than, maybe make you less trust-worthy as time goes on so that, if you do ever truly get cop people won't listen to you (boy who cried wolf)
I am not fond of the execution of the claim, and I am definitely not fond of the lack of trust you have in your fellow townies.
A game isn't all about you (and this is coming from me, one of the most self-centered players ever) it's about knowing the strength of everyone else around you, working together to get scum/town eliminated.

I have resorted to fakeclaiming cop twice in my time here.
Both times I was right.
It's not something I do lightly, I assure you.

Mine is figuring out who the scum is.
Not convincing other people to vote them.

It's all about being right. Since his gambit got scum to concede and town won, it all worked out in the end.
