I'm guessing strongman wasn't used by Ircher the first night. So it makes more sense scum wanted to defend him.

Ircher's role mentions factional kill (+strongman) which disproves the theory that scum use the moss as their factional poison/kill
And today two people are dead, and Bears is alive
And the moss seems suspicious from a flavor point of view, it's hard to imagine that from a town role - I haven't played the game though.

Ircher being hard defended yesterday makes those slots more suspicious given the scum team ran into a protective. which makes the strongman that much more valuable to them.
