Hello all. I'm replacing Cave bear!

I'm currently re-reading. I'm at page 86. I should catch up in the next few days.

Right now the two I'm looking at the most is Zoneace and Armlx, but It's not really enough to vote right now. I'll probably vote when I have finished re-reading.

I don't like zoneace's lurking and then defending lurking. It may be his style, but I tend to think those who arn't being active are more likely to have things to hide personaly. He also seemed to direct a power role at one point (Unfortunately I didn't write down the specifics, but I can look it up if you want before finishing re-reading, otherwise I'll do it when I catch up.)
Also he said: "Vote: BM Because" and I believe this was later in the game beyond the point of random votes. (At least, I don't think I would have noted it if it was really early. )

For Armlx I didn't like the FOS that suddenly changed to vote on Zoneace (A mild scumtell to me). I have the note "heavy on scattered" not sure what this means, but I assume it means heavily pushing the scattered-scum lynch. An obvious mark in Armlx's favor.

Oh yeah, and I just recently found out my internet may go kablewy at any time, leaving me internetless for an indefinite amount of time. I have notified the mod, but I thought I should let everyone know. I'd be forced to only have internet 1/week prob. at best, so I'd understand if I get replaced at that point.

As day starts, outrage over Battle Mage's death sweeps through the pilots. Since most of them were working for him, they instantly knew who was likely responsible. Several of them simultaneously select armlx from the list of pilots, and before he knew what had happened, he could feel his cockpit breaking down around him. He quickly hit the eject button, but nothing happened. Frantic, he jammed the button down again, only to have it begin to eject just as the explosion reached him. armlx was consumed in the fire and is no more.

armlx, Corsairs Leader, lynched Day 9


A message pops up on the screens of the remaining pilots. "Congratulations! The last "criminal" pilot has been eliminated. It seems people prefer working for legitimate business after all. And so the experiment ends. However, not all of you have succeeded at your mission. Sorry, Korlash, I don't think being alone in your faction constitutes 25% of the remaining 6 pilots. Goodbye."

With that, the other pilots see Korlash's location indicator wink out on their screens. The messages return.

"The rest of you, however, all work for Bretonia Mining & Manufacturing now. They seem to be pretty popular around here. Not only have you eliminated all the criminal factions, you also control enough of the pilot population to have succeeded. As such, you have earned your lives back. You are free to go."

The message winks out, and the pilots look around, wondering what will happen next. Suddenly, they are all ejected from their spacecraft, and the ships disintegrate in flames around them. Fortunately, they are all picked up by rescue craft from Rheinland and Liberty government agencies, although no one believes their story. After some research though, they find out that an alien race has been possessing notable figures in each Sector, trying to take over the governments. Bretonia and Kusari space is now closed, as each Sector has been taken over and its government in exile tries to fight the alien presence. You think you were involved in an experiment on human nature, something to help the aliens successfully emulate the beings they possess.

Congratulations! The Bretonia Mining & Manufacturing faction (Leaders: Battle Mage and Cavebear with a Toothache; Recruits: Cephrir, springlullaby, mneme II, and ZONEACE II) has completed its full win condition and won the game![.i]

If you think you've found a member of the Kishiro faction, you may choose not to offer half of your available jobs to just kill them directly that night. Little information is available about the Outcasts to the outside world, but they are believed to be heavily involved in the trafficking of the drug Cardamine. One of the Outcasts' primary rivals in Sirius, the Corsairs, also have interests in this little "game". XXXX XXXXX (XXXX) also works for the Outcasts. You may communicate with each other at night. Each night, you have 4 jobs that you can offer to the other pilots. You can only offer up to 1 job per sector. You may, of course, choose not to offer any jobs, if you want. These jobs can only target other pilots in the same sector. Each time a pilot chooses to work for the Outcasts, they will become more aligned with your goals. If they work for you enough, they will join your faction permanently. You will be notified what jobs you have available to offer during each night phase. Freelancer:


You are Edison Trent, freelancer. You have no allegiances. Your goals are what you make them to be. Each night, you will have the opportunity to accept job proposals from the various factions that exist in this "game". You may choose not to take any jobs, if you do not like what is being offered. Unless you manage to join a faction, you can only win if all criminal organizations are eliminated.

Mod Notes:


Jobs are given in the format of "Please kill someone tonight", although they will be written in full flavor form.

Factions are informed of who completed a mission for them each night. Failing to get a result after accepting a mission (be it do to roleblock or whatnot) counts as failing the mission. Factions will be allowed to reoffer jobs that were not completed, and they can choose new targets and new employees to do the jobs.

If all Factions are eliminated at the same time (ie no faction has the chance to be alive to complete their win condition), everyone loses except for the remaining freelancers, because the Nomads claim victory.

Each sector will have 8 jobs available each night, one from each faction + a default job that will give 1/4 of the people that accept it a double vote the next day. If a Freelancer completes a job successfully, they move one step closer to joining that faction. If they complete 3 jobs for the same faction (2 for criminal factions), they will join that faction permanently.

People who are fully aligned with a faction do not receive any jobs, but they can be offered jobs. They just won't ever be notified, and the job will be reported as rejected, just like any other rejected job. Corsairs and Outcasts can receive jobs if they are not performing a kill.

After Night 5, the factions have a pool of their rejected jobs up to that point to offer each night.

Corsairs and Outcasts all get a one-shot immunity to investigation.

The Xenos have been causing problems for everyone lately. We've got the whereabouts of a couple of their leaders, so we'd like you to go capture them and bring them to an arranged location. You'd be handsomely rewarded for this, of course. We'd like to keep our name out of it, but you'll receive payment upon completion of the mission.

Samura:


Rival Cop - Samura Industries has a proposition for you. We suspect that Kishiro Technologies may be employing people in your sector. We'd like you to look into one of them and find out for us. You would, of course, be rewarded for your trouble. You will receive further details of this mission should you choose to accept it.

Kishiro:


Rival Cop - Kishiro Technologies would like to hire your services...with payment, of course. We feel that someone in your sector may be working for Samura Industries, so we'd like you to check up on them for us. Further details forthcoming upon acceptance of this mission.

Liberty Navy:


50% Doctor - The Liberty Navy needs your help. We feel that someone in your sector may be the target of an attack, and we'd like you to make sure that nothing happens to that person. You aren't required to fight off any attackers, but just do your best to make sure that person lives. If you take this mission, we'll send over the details.

50% Watcher - The Liberty Navy could use your services. We feel that it's possible someone may try to approach a pilot in your sector soon. We'd like you to watch them and report anyone who goes near that pilot. If you're interested, we'll fill in the rest.

100% Watcher - The Liberty Navy would like you to do a service for them. A pilot in your sector is of interest to us, and we'd like to make sure we know what happens to them. Please follow them and report if anyone contacts them during the night. We'll give you details of your target if you accept this offer.

100% Doctor - I represent the Liberty Navy. We believe someone in your sector may be in danger tonight. We'd like you to make sure they live through the night. We'll send along the full details if you accept the mission.

Bodyguard - This writeup was never created, because Liberty Navy chose not to offer it when they had the chance before the leaders were eliminated.

Daumann:

100% Tracker - I work for Daumann Construction. We could use your services in looking into a certain matter for us. We believe someone in your sector is doing something we'd like to know about. We want you to follow them and report who they visit during the night. We'll pass along more details upon acceptance of this mission.

Alignment Cop - Daumann Construction would like you to perform a service for us. We believe someone is your sector is working against us, but we'd like you to find out for sure. Full details will be sent upon acceptance of this offer.

BMM:


50% Tracker - Bretonia Mining & Manufacturing would like you to take on a mission for us. We believe someone is acting counter to our interests, and we'd like you to follow them and report their activities. Upon completion of your mission, we'll pay you a retainer for your services. Mod Reactions:

I think in retrospect the criminal factions were underpowered. I hadn't expected the Kishiro/Samura situation to implode Day 1 and end up with 2 killing factions eliminated right away, so that made it harder for the scum, as there were only 1-2 kills a night instead of 3 or 4. If I ran this again, I might consider allowing criminal factions to recruit after only 1 accepted mission, instead of having to wait for 3 like the other factions. I might also make the criminal factions have 3 members to start with instead of 2. I'm also unconvinced that it was the correct decision to make the Freelancer Win Condition be to eliminate criminals instead of making them essentially survivors. I think that turned people off of accepting jobs from criminal factions, which made it impossible for them to recruit anyone. I also didn't like having to make the Liberty Navy win condition simply to eliminate criminals, but I couldn't think of a secondary condition to add to their WC. In the long run, though, I'm satisfied with how this game turned out, other than it taking a long time mostly due to my own time constraints making nights take forever. I think this game could be a really good mafia variation with tweaking and a more dedicated time situation from the mod.
