I know you gave your reasons before but this still feels a bit non-sequitur.

To be honest though, while I don't like how fast the wagon piled up, there is a deadline within a day, and it's not like he wasn't a lynch candidate before.
If JW doesn't deliver the goods in his next post, I'll hammer.

So i had a massive post for you guys last night, but my home network decided to circle jerk me and just stop working, needless to say that post no longer exists, so this is a significantly shorter one.

Scum:
{Amrun, Stubbs, LnGrrrR, fferyllt (weakest read of the lot)}

Town:
{Marquis, Rach, CDB}

The rest are still nullish.
In post 288, fferyllt wrote:Not a good match IMO. I've been thinking more about his play in Micro 186- Vengeball. Syr and I played that game as our hydra, Rift Adrift. Jason was one of the godfathers.

The newbie game you referenced, on day 1 he was quite strategic in terms of when he'd show up and what he would comment on.
That still doesn't make this lurking different to either my town or scum lurking, when i can't get into a game i don't post THAT IS WHY I LURK AND IT HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF ALIGNMENT.

Taking this as intent to hammer.

I am Argus Filch, JoAT just like stubbs claims to be.

Follower, Reporter, Voyeur.

Oh, for the love of Christ.

Can you be more specific about what your abilities do, please? I've seen variations.

What do you think of Stubbs's claim?

Given that this is pretty weak overall, and fits in flavour, I'm inclined to believe it.

Still don't like how he's yet to explain anything but I'm keeping my vote on Marquis.

I had a post that explained everything, and i really don't feel like retyping the whole thing

Follower: I get a result of "Investigative, Killing etc." for what that person did at night
Reporter: I know if they went
no
where or not.
Voyeur: I know what was done to someone, but not who did it.

So basically, Really weak cop, Vanilla Cop, Action Watcher.

Not sure which claim makes more sense. Given the different action sets, the Filch claim is more in keeping with flavor, and IIRC, all the town PRs in the first HP game were adult characters.

Losing a post sucks but you do need to explain your reaction to Stubbs's claim at an absolute minimum.

PEdit: p_a, why does one have to make more sense than the other?

@CDB, do you think there are two towny JOATs?

@Jason, tell us why you think Amrun is scum. I think you have had enough time to gauge reactions.

And /barn Channel's question... Why no reaction to the Stubbs claim? I am pretty dubious about that claim. A JOAT with three pretty weak abilities.

The only wagon I could see myself jumping to is Marquis at the moment.

Two JOAT claims. Could be town-town, town-scum, or scum-scum. Considering how much sense either of them makes is kind of the point. Jason not addressing the other JOAT claim is sketchy, and I'd rather not speculate further until he does, as it seems like we have more time now.

not having played here before, I don't know if it's common to have 1 or more jack-of-all-trades roles but it's not what I'm used to. if I had to choose I would say the claimed role of Filch is a better fit for the character flavour. "1-shot roleblock, 1-shot doc and 1-shot cop" doesn't reconcile that well with the character of Colin Creevey

I'm going to do the classic we-should-stop-talking-about-this-but-first-let-me-talk-about-it thing, so bear with me.

Two town JOATs is not inconceivable, especially with different abilities. It's a perfectly reasonable modding choice that allows for lots of abilities in play without being overpowered, and creates paranoia when both roles are claimed. I'm not saying they're definitely both town, I'm saying we shouldn't create a dilemma between the two.

Flavour is of secondary consideration but it seems to me that both stand up as reasonable - Stubbs's claim has slightly more tenuous flavour to make up for its more powerful abilities, Jason's flavour fits him best but his abilities are less common and therefore more difficult to believe. My feeling is that Stubbs's claim is particularly unlikely to have been made by scum - if you got Colin Creevey as a safeclaim, would you propose JOAT as something the town are likely to buy? I wouldn't. Filch could be a fakeclaim but, again, abilities would have been slightly harder to make up.

Given it's Day 1, we should be ignoring them both and allowing them to get on with things. We'll be able to deal with them later if there's skulduggery afoot.

And now we should stop talking about the claims. :D
