Please note that I’m on vacation through next Tuesday. I will likely be a bit slower to respond to any messages than usual (ie responses will be within a day rather than generally within an hour). If you need immediate assistance, please feel free to copy or reach out to another listmod.

you can’t sign up to games that aren’t in signups yet
you can PM the mod and pre-in, in which case when the game DOES go into signups, you’ll have a spot (albeit, one that you’ll have to confirm within 3 days of the game going into signups)
i know that sometimes i do not sign up for games correctly, i do. lilith can yell at me if she would like. the queues do not make a lot of sense to me as i do not understand why if there is a game someone would like to moderate that i would like to play in i cannot join it so when i see a game i would like to play in i /in and hope that it has been added to the queue and if not some moderators have added me to their pre-ins and othertimes i simply have to re-/in at a later point if i remember to do so before the game is filled. i prefer not to pm moderators as i am already enough of a bother and would not like to add to that. or maybe this is more of a bother. it is hard for me to tell.
hi! for the sake of organization in the queue threads, only two games are in signups at a time and I am only keeping track of /ins for games in signups. if we were using a queue-less system, it would be fine to sign up at any time. in a queueing system, if anyone can /in into any game regardless of whether the game is in signups, I think the thread gets very chaotic. depending on how long it takes to get to the top of the queue, we also might need to reconfirm with players whether they are still interested or available to play, which is more work that is then compounded across every game.
That's why it's the game mod's responsibility to keep track of anyone who expresses interest before the game officially enters signups. This is a responsibility they know they are signing up for when they enter a game in the queue, so it isn't a bother for you to be messaging them. I would actually suggest it is less of a bother as it's a more direct form of communication than posting in the queue and hoping that they see it, because as you've mentioned, sometimes they see it and sometimes they don't. If you PM them directly expressing interest, they are more likely to see your message and record your pre-in so you are more likely to have a slot reserved for you, and they can be assured that they don't have to keep checking the queue thread to see if anyone wanted to pre-in. it's a win-win. you are definitely not bothering anyone. personally, I was always really excited to receive pre-in messages in my inbox because it meant that people were excited to play my game.
on my part, I don't have a problem with you posting the /in, but as I've stated above, I won't be keeping track of it if the game isn't in signups yet as I would then have to re-contact you once the game goes into signups to confirm that you are still interested/available to play. It is more straightforward for me to only track /ins for games that are currently in signups.
I hope this explanation helped. please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I also always welcome suggestions if you have ideas for making the queue more user-friendly.
