It's based on your MMR. If you go below the needed MMR for that league, you will drop.
But when you reach a new tier for the first time (Such as if you were to get to silver 1) you will have a temporary "shield" that will allow you to lose around 10 games at 0 before dropping. But if you win one, I think the shield goes away. You probably don't want to lose 10 games anyway.

it's 3-5 games if i remember correctly (if experience dictates something else then that's probably more correct tbh), and yeah it goes away on your first win.

I wonder how many people can have the same buff active at the same time
in other words I wonder how many red/blue buffs can be active on the map at once.

I think it's something like 4, but I'm curious what the actual math behind that is.

nope, goes away after you raise above 30lp or your immunity (3-5 games) ends.

Uh, 4 cuz there's only 4 buffs?

You can have 10 doublebuffed people if buff duration is more than half of the time between buff spawns and 8 otherwise.

Even if the duration is not extended, if people keep trading buffs back and forth between teams, it's technically possible for every player to wind up with double buffs.

Scarab's answer sounds about right...

Lessee, rotation 1, you get 2 doublebuffed people. You can trade this around everyone for a while until you get 4, then 6, then I think you can get 8.

With 8? Hmm. I'm think spawn timers may actually start to come into effect here - you may not be able to trade buffs fast enough. If that isn't an issue though, you just trade them a bunch and get 10.

Although, you'd have 8 buffs by 17 minutes assuming optimum efficiency, and I don't think spawn timers are that long by then.

You can get 10 sets if you trade reasonably decently.

Duration of buffs is 2.5 minutes. Respawn timers don't hit that (at least not in normal circumstances)

It isn't possible for every player to have them; every buff needs to be transferred twice to reach the new buff timer (2.4 minutes + 2.5 minutes != 5 minutes)
That and you need to consistently move the old buffs around to keep them in play

Therefore

Eventually you get to a point where people who already have buffs are just refreshing them and then dying to pass them off, without being able to spawn more

it's impossibly to have 10 people on the map with the same buff.
if TIP actually read my post I said specifically the same buff.

4 might actually be a pessimistic number. Might be closer to 6.

I'm seriously loving raka mid so much :o

Currently 22-4 with her since I began playing her like a week ago.

edit: honestly her only hard counter is like Malzhar, and no one plays him (except one of my losses >_>).

Either you're saying that there's some extra regulation of buff timers I'm not aware of, or you can get around this by simply passing them a third time.

Failing that, the only problem comes when players with buffs have to kill players with buffs to refresh the timer (since this will refresh the buff timers, but also reduce the number of buffs in play by 1-2).

mid raka's powerful if you can create presence.

otherwise you just die for free a lot.

After having so many games as tanky toplaners /w Teleport like Shen, Mundo and Trundle, I finally played something agressive early again.

I forgot how much fun it can be to just dominate a lane. I was playing Darius with teleport and managed to control both my lane and the bottom lane because of it.

The age of mundo is over. He gets abused too hard pre 6 now with the defensive nerfs

agressive top laners whose goal is to shut down their lane opponents are the new hitler

I disagree.

Mundo is still great. Yes, he gets abused pre 6 a lot, but he's still a lategame monster, especially with not as many people running ignite anymore.
The Heal nerf hit him though so in 4.7 not so sure anymore

I mean the instant I see mundo top I pick ignite, even though I normally run teleport. Then he's my bitch all game.

Yeah I ran him for a bit when heal was op but I've stopped since 4.7 100%

Like I think heal/tp mundo was arguably a thing, but, his pre 6 was just so risky without flash
