My highest winrate toplaner is Jayce and my highest winrate support right now is probably Lulu.

It really doesnt matter that much. What you're good at matters a lot more.

I mean, technically skill > everything, but picking certain things to be good at can make it easier

Eh, sometimes you have a lot of experience on a champ b/c they were OP, even if they aren't OP now.

The reason J4 is my best champ is b/c I spammed him in S1 when he was broken (I didn't know it back then b/c I was still relatively bad, but original J4 was overtuned as fuck). Say w/e you will about J4 being outclassed by Lee/Elise/Eve right now, my J4 is much scarier than my versions of any of those champs.

I guess this does apply more to older players than new players, though.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that Riot ultimately nerfs stuff that is OP and buffs stuff that is UP. There isn't a champ that has been consistently "meta" for the entire time that it's been out that isn't either:

1) New (Lucian and Braum)
2) Orianna

Focusing more on learning stuff that is "OP" right now is meaningless, because it'll eventually stop being OP (unless it's Orianna or Lee Sin). Riot will nerf it and/or buff other stuff, and then you're left with a ton of practice on a champ that you may not enjoy very much.

I never thought I'd say this.. but I lose lane to Fiora every time no matter what I'm playing. I've tried poking her out (innate sustain BS), out lane bullying her (she combos me down 100-0 no matter what), and sustaining vs. her (combos me from 100-0).

What. the. fuck.

As long as you don't pick something that's blatantly underpowered and weak and that has something else that's just better than it in every way (teemo, shaco, kindof urgot), you're okay no matter what you pick as long as you're good on it.

Also, I think that probably the reason orianna and lee sin don't ever get nerfed is because they're not OP unless you're OP. And 99% of players are not OP. Ori is decent if you're moderately good at her but you're gonna fk up and forget where you put the ball sometimes. And lee sin is melee so he doesn't even get decent if moderately good. For all the massive potential you have to completely decimate the enemy team with lee sin's utility, you have as much potential to completely fk up and screw your whole team over. Kick the enemy away from your team so they escape? Kick the enemy INTO your team so they murderize you? They happen.

I've tried Shen and rushing every armor I could possibly buy - I've tried Ryze and poking her from range. I've tried outbullying her with Pantheon. NOTHING has worked.

Anything with CC really though, if you avoid or CC her burst of speed you'll win the lane.

I'm really getting tired of all these ranged toplaners at the moment. Out of my last 5 toplanes, i've faced Lulu, Vayne, Ryze, Teemo and Shyvana. Because of this, I just rarely want to play top anymore. It has just become such a boring lane to play

What. the. fuck.

don't underestimate her
grab armor ASAP
dshield+tabi is a must
she's good at 4-5s medium length skirmishes
make sure you cut the trades short before her E gets 15 hits on you
after that trade you have 16 (rank 1) to 8 (rank 5) seconds of free damage vs fiora since her Q is on CD
please don't stick around when you're low and she has ult
please don't dive her turret while she has ult
unless you can kill her with ignite, ignite hits through her ult
her ult CD is insanely long, if she uses it it will be a good two minutes before it's up again early game
punsh that
her innate sustain isn't that much at all, early she has almost nothing unless you let her get free hits on you
until she gets lifesteal then forget about outsustaining her

she also has irelia syndrome where she runs out of mana hilariously fast and is pretty much useless

and remember that her Q can be used to dash to you but not away from you

so you really just need to do anything you can to not give her an advantage

you can literally farm kills off her if you're ahead

but god help you and your team if you get fb cheezed at level 2 because you thought fiora was weak

las time I checked she was still ranked #4 winrate in yoloq

I felt this way after Jayce took the big nerf at the end of season 2 and teemo got super strong.

This just really put in perspective how few champs riot puts out nowadays. I still feel Jayce is "New" but he's been around for 2 years now. Out of the 19 champs that have come out since Jayce, 9 of those came out in the last 6 months 2012. 8 came out in the entirety of 2013. 2 have came out so far in 2014. And I spy only one champ that was considered balanced on release(Vel'Koz). The only one afte that's close is probably Aatrox

But anyway, top lane seems to go in cycles. Bruisers are strong than ranged guys than back to bruisers.

Doesn't work if she gets an early lead.

The first Saki post was good, second had a lot of misinformation.

@Ani, try pantheon.

speaking of VelKoz good lord I love him. He's awesome in bot lane if you know how to play him well, especially with the reign of terror of Nami right now

That's not why they dont get nerfed.

Lee doesn't get nerfed because people complain too much whenever he's slated for nerfs (almost every jungler in China is a Lee main, and we're no longer in S2 where China's opinions don't matter)

Ori doesn't get nerfed because, unlike with what Lee does in the jungle, Ori doesn't completely ruin the midlane meta at the competitive level.
