I'm an alt of Eddie Cane. I believe about half the game knows me. I played two games on this alt with the intention of trying very fucking hard and pulling out everything I could. The first went a lot better than this one (shoutout Dann). I fucked up on KMD's name at the beginning and had to correct lmao.
I want to be clear. I don't think I played a bad game. This town was
very
hard to work with. There was a lot of slots doing nothing, very little motivation, and scum was playing well (really, I don't think killing rb is a bad kill aside from the fact he happened to be traitor). I had a very rough early game from my reads, but I don't think town wins this if I didn't play as I did at the end so

wow! great to see you again eddie! had no idea at all that it was you.
this one i think i'm fairly certain of, but i won't out.

I actually really like the idea of a Traitor with the scumteam having a Loyal Neighborizer and might swipe that for a game I run eventually.

i'm generally not into anything that erodes the basic idea of mafia, including any form of traitor

unfortunately it got kind of destroyed night 1, but i think it would've been interesting
the setup was made with a few misconceptions in mind: that Kmd's neighborizing action would be trackable even if he targeted town (it isn't) and that Universal Backups inherit x-shot roles with all of their original shots, namely. i probably would have done something different had i known previously.
in the end i don't think the setup ended up actually affecting the game that much or being all that interesting, but the game itself made up for it.

Yeah I legit disbelieved every claim of X-shot because I thought it'd be such a bum move to inherit a used-up role.
That said, you could 'mitigate' roleswing by making every vanilla townie a different priority Universal Backup in a game that has only x-shot roles, so if players holster and get shot, the backups can still use the role.
Hm.
@Xtoxm: Yeah, I'm usually against multiball because it's a fundamentally different game, though having an informed traitor or doing white flag is often a way to give scum an 'extra' player while not beefing their power up too much.
@NSG: Why not make the traitor Bulletproof? At least then if the kill fails on them, scum's just down one night but not out a kill and a team mate. Traitor should always be used as a .5 member anyway, not as a full member.

That does give me the idea of an interesting setup:
A game where role cards don't get flipped (alignment does, but nothing else) and everyone is a Universal Backup with various priorities. Would that work? I'm curious.
Hm...
Probably not given it'd conf-town people unless scum forced 1v1s.
Though you could go flipless entirely and it'd be interesting
though at that point
It's kinda not mafia.

i didn't really consider the possibility that the traitor would get shot, honestly. even if i had, i'm not sure if the scumteam would really need the extra power.
all of this chat has made me remember to release the setup thread, though, so let me get on that.

sorry. i like to think it would have been very interesting had you ended up being neighborized by kmd, though

if i could make this setup again i would probably have made you informed that there's a mafia loyal neighborizer

don't have to apologise
personally if i get a role i don't really like playing, i just play experimentally in a way i normally wouldn't have. if it works, then great if not then at least i had fun

ive never played with a traitor before but if i were to make a setup with a traitor id make it mandatory that there would be some way to find traitors ie loyal neighborizers bc thats interesting

it's still shit to play and i wish moderators thought more about what actually makes for a fun and fair game than what's just cool to watch unfold from a spectator-with-apriori-knowledge point of view but that's a big ask when i personally just can't be bothered moderating any games myself

i thought town played pretty badly at the start but played well down the stretch. Oka played well too.
