I am planning on running a Mini Theme based on
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
, tentatively titled
Vanger Family Mafia
.

I'm at the very bottom of the queue, so it will be a while until it's in signups. I am taking pre-ins, though, so shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Anyone interested in a large Alien/s/Prometheus game? No Predators allowed.

Howdy all,

My experimental two town game has just ended. I'd love people to have a look and weigh in on the set up.

It's kind-of excessively kingmakery, although perhaps that was the point.

Interested.

Just thought of an idea where the town is the informed minority and the scum is the uninformed majority.
Has this been done before?

Does the 'scum' get a nightkill? Or is this just a flavor difference?

yeah. you'd better explain what you mean before we can really answer the question.

Space Monkey Mafia by Mr. Stoofer is one game that comes close to doing what you are talking about. A good read by the way, especially reactions.

It has, and it will mostly turn out to be a shitty game because there is no point in scumhunting when you're essentially only helping scum.

How about a theme park game where there are many (10-13) Town players, multiple (5-6) PRs, Few (2-3) Scums, and 3-4 Serial Killers.
Each day Town votes someone to get stabbed/lynched and if s/he's a SK or a special role, they survive the hit (counts as one stab, see further) but if a normal Townie, s/he will die.

As there will possibly be multiple deaths at night, we'll limit the deaths by making most or possibly all players be able to survive one stabbing at night.
So if a player gets targetted by one SK, s/he won't die, but if 2 or more target him/her, s/he will die.
Also, if s/he survives one stab at Night, when he gets stabbed once the next night, s/he will die.
But make some limited (maybe 2 players) players be able to kill with one shot.
Throw in some JK or Doctors, sounds like complicated as hell of a game.

Has this done before?

Ok. Maybe the idea is craptastic. But I think I might have a good title. "I Saw the Devil: A Bloody Aria"
How about that xD

btw, has following done before?
Tintin Mafia
Jurassic Park Mafia

1) mafia is hilariously underpowered
2) town is also most likely hilariously underpowered, as you've made the lynch mechanic much less powerful than it usually is (as it takes multiple lynch attempts to kill scum)

But there are powerful PRs

They'd have to pretty damn strong to balance that. Which would a) further weaken the mafia and b) make the game swingy as hell.

I don't think it's unworkable or anything, it just takes more specificity to figure out how viable it really is.

Maybe stuff like: Strong-Arm Vigs, and...I dunno. What kind of strong PRs are there, xD?

Later this summer I will be running another one of these if there is still enough interest:

http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=17936

EDIT: no explanation

Basically this:

You send me 3 bands you want to play as, each with a "main performance song"

I put something like "Mafia PR, Mafia Weak PR, Mafia Goon, Mafia Goon, Mafia Goon, Strong Town PR, Protective town PR, Vt, VT" into random.org with players

I match up the players to their respective role, then use the band's songs (not the main one) to determine an "encore" song which represents your Power (ex: Green Day's "Know your enemy" was Cop power in a previous game, Muse's "Resistance" was doctor in a previous game)

Then, if you get lynched, I write up a dramatic death flavor with the lyrics to the song you chose for the main performance song.

Its fun, you get at least some control over the game. I'm just not for sure if I can generate enough interest to do it again or not, it looks like most of my usual band mafia players have left the site.

It's basically a flavor difference, though it could be possible to work in some interesting mechanics.

As long as it doesn't start before late July, I'd definitely be interested.

Also, I'm thinking of running a Mini Theme with a mechanic where players have the choice to leave the door to their home locked or unlocked each night. This being with the basic idea that locking one's door makes it more difficult for both foes and friends to "visit" them.

I've come up with a rough set-up which I think could work with some tweaking, but I'd be interested to know if something like this has been run before, and also if people think it'd be interesting enough to be worth running.

Very interesting. This is the kind of mechanic that I feel has been absent.

@Deas: With the rate games are filling (even hito's game, which is Zoraster Certified(TM) as awesome, is only slowly filling... go sign up for that), there's little chance the game will start in July, Deas. I'm not even sure my Always On Mafia will start before August.

Oh thanks zor. :) You can probably disregard my PM then.

Interested in claiming a Shakespeare theme. Got a good rough setup idea, it'd be nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of nonetheless.
