I think he meant literally the act of SOMEONE stopping the lynch is public. Read myko's flavor. It says SOMEONE stepped in and stop the lynch. Why mention claiming credit at all if absolutely everything, including specifically who caused the lynch, was public in the first place?

I think Kiaryuu was mistaken when he made that post. Either way, there would be no motivation to lie about that.
