Am I the only one to think new Soraka's really bullshit and needs toning down? The Q seems way too easy to hit, even at mid range. Which means free (and infinite) healing for everyone.

Needs hard engage.

Soraka's job has

always

been to keep her carries healthy. Not to engage or disengage, really. What she does she's clearly best-at-class in by a very large scale. Add on spammable poke that doubles as a self-heal and I don't really see a way of getting past Soraka. Also she completely shuts down carries such as Graves, Corki, Varus, Lucian, and Ezreal, who need to be casting spells to be useful.

Sure, but the current comps require the Support to give some form of CC, Engage, or Disengage. Soraka comps will put more pressure on the mid and top planes to play hard engange/hard disengage champs, which currently aren't super popular in either lane, other than Jarvan.

I am saying that you need to hard engage against her.

Soraka Q only heals if it ends an enemy champion, which is why it's nice bot lane. She's apparently nice against people like Kat whom she can insta-silence (whereas other silences have travel time).

Note that cho's silence and soraka's silence are, at this point, the only silences left in the game.

Also, soraka's ult counteracts the grievous wounds caused by kat's ult. So silence + ult = kat's ult 100% rekt

Those are some incredibly weird examples to give because Graves/Lucian/Corki + a support with hard CC = dead soraka. Her strength is winning battles of attrition where she helps by healing her carry and chipping away at the other teams health so that they're eventually forced back or are weakened enough to be unable to punish her carries mistakes. Supports that can engage + carries that excel at bursting heroes down (aka graves/lucian/corki) can bypass her main strength by making the entire lane about a series of short brutal fights rather then an extended pokefest.
