Smalltown setup may be what you're looking for? Public profession, secret role/alignment...

Yeah I was basing the idea a little on smalltown. But I meant you know what role/alignment is posting, just not who they are. It's probably not a good idea anyway :s

Yeah, aliased games have not historically worked well, for all the reasons Sajin mentioned.
If the Post Masking feature ever gets off the ground, it might be a time to try something like that again.

Multiple people on the VT account (or scum getting passwords and fakeclaims can be weird)?

I thought about having multiple people per VT account but then I figured that scum would never use the scum account, and only use the VT account...

So, I have several ideas i'm bouncing around in my head, but I don't know which one would be more enjoyable to run.
One I'm leaning towards would fall under "role madness," in that (almost) every role would have an ability, and the roles would interplay with one another.
thinking of calling it "Senses Fail," or something less cheesy. .-.

If I'm making a smalltown micro, would 7:2 or 6:2:1 be best?

by callforjudgement
7:2. 6:2:1 is almost impossible to balance; there are too many nightkills.

That's what I was thinking too. I was just looking at other smalltowns (mini themes 12-13 players) that have been run and noticed many of them included a serial killer, so I just wanted to make sure.

What do you guys think of a micro where mafia pick 1 or 2 players at the beginning of the day, and only get to NK if one of the chosen players is killed?
I'm not sure about no lynches, I guess I would either disallow them or say that mafia can predict No Lynch the same as any other lynch.
As for player count, I need to do some math, but 7:2 seems like a good ballpark.

Chosen Mafia, but with their protection covering everyone?

I'll be entering the large theme queue soon-ish with an Orange is the New Black game. PM me to pre-/in!

It'll still be awhile before it runs -- I am not ready for queue yet (looking for another reviewer) and there are like 3 games ahead of me in queue anyway.

Something similar might have already been run, but how about a Brave New World theme game?
There could be a World Controller role, and every day, he assigns players as either Alphas/Betas/Gammas. There would be a pre-set amount of Alphas/Betas/Gammas depending on the number of players alive. Alphas could be unrestricted, Betas could do everything except vote, and Gammas could be restricted further in some way. Night actions would be unaffected by the World Controller.

Lol, kidding, I appreciate this idea, but it sounds too confusing for me.
I have something to throw out there... has anyone ever done a theme that was like "gambling" mafia or something? Where people could wager on various things? Like who gets lynched, who has to claim first, X role being in the game, etc? I'm not talking the players themselves; I am talking outside scummers. And then maybe show the odds publically as just a piece of information to throw out there to the players? I've been tinkering with that idea, but I am so bad with numbers and the concept of bookmaking. Or maybe base it on the concept of, like,
Intrade? I think those would be fun routes, but I cannot put all the pieces together.

That sounds fun, although tricky to get right. Find a bookie!

Salmonella, would play!
RC, I ran an auction mechanic game where people bid on things, but it's not quite the same. I think MoS and I designed a price is Right game a long time ago but we never ran it... Lol. Sounds like a cool idea.
Flesh it out more?

I have put together a 13 player geology themed game, if 2 or 3 people would like to look at it to make sure it is fair/balanced it'd be great
I don't want to post it here as it'll reveal details. pm me if you wanna look at it

Would anyone be interested in playing Command and Conquer flavored mafia games? With specifically designed roles that have one day (battle stuff decided by dice or special actions) and night (plan/standard mafia) action and also with the possibility to design your new custom roles for each new game, along with known classic roles. Units can range from soldiers, vehicles or even buildings from C&C universe, but for now I have only few infantry roles designed.
Currently I'm building up roles for Red Alert flavored games (flavor: Soviet outpost infiltrated by Allied spies), which designed for smaller player count (5-10) and aimed for fast paced game. It's suitable for micro games, and I'm also developing a tracking script so these can be played via chat as well. I could use some help in testing it as well and thought to ask for experienced players here.
Here's an example of a chat game:

I recently discussed at Scumdon an idea about a game where there was public voting. As in, players play as normal but there is a poll in the OP and other scummers get to vote for the lynch. At deadline the poll decides the lynch. Would anyone be interested in an idea like this?
[I'd also need to figure out if I'd stick to requiring >50% since votes cannot be undone, and my instinct would be to make it mountainous (claims won't affect who gets lynched) or have scum roles that can affect the votes (governing, calling an early end to the day?) My gut says the voting system would be townsided (scum vs the rest of the site) but I'm not sure!]

Only if you flavor it as BB UK Mafia.
Actually, yeah. Do that. Make it so the players all nominate 2 people for public lynching, and the people with the most votes go up into a public lynching poll (ties mean both people go).
