I used to live on the observatory in Cape Town, which isn't really used for observation anymore because of light pollution, so there's a whole bunch of telescope domes there that are boarded up with the telescopes having been removed. Myself, my brother, and our friend Dima were kind of obsessed with Medieval 2 Total War at the time so we sharpened sticks and acted out medieval battles, which we promptly got banned from doing by our parents after I hit my sister in the face with one.

Anyway, Dima knew a way to get into one of the telescope domes (there was a way you could climb in through the roof) so we continued and just hid all of the sharpened sticks in the dome whenever we weren't using them. Somehow that eventually turned into our equipment shop, where we'd 'sell' stuff to one another - still mainly sticks fashioned into various items, but also 'supplies' in the form of this one edible clover-looking leaf we'd find and gather up.

You don’t keep questions nor any lifelines past the eighth match. You can earn more questions past the eighth match, but the ones you earned before it are lost.

I'm no good at coding or drawing, so I mostly helped write the text conversations and name the characters. I remember Hermewne Magcat Garlick. (I think there may have been Samanthpurr Stephens? I know there was one from Bewitched and I just googled character names and that seems likely.)

It was my family microwave growing up. When I moved out my parents bought themselves a fancy new one and gave this one to me.

Ironically, as the only non-game design major on my team I did most of the actual designing of the game.

It was for a game jam I did with a few of my friends a couple years ago. There were four of us; two people focused primarily on assets-- sounds, animations, etc, while one other person and I wrote most of the code. The premise of the game was that you were lost in a magic kingdom and had to find your way home (the theme was "what home means to me") and throughout the journey you had to duel different characters for different reasons (it was pretty short because game jam, there were I think 5 or 6 fights overall). I came up with the majority of the spells and balanced (or at least, attempted to balance) most of the fights. As it turns out designing good levels is really tricky, so a couple of the fights were way too hard, but overall I was pretty proud of how it came out, especially since I'd literally never worked with Unity before.

Unfortunately I can't claim credit for the name, one of my friends came up with it while we were brainstorming

So it was fall break in my senior year of college, not long before I joined the site actually, and I had first gone home for fall break. The plan was for me to take the Trail Blazer that we had for 15 years or so back to TCNJ with me since I had been complaining forever about not having a car there and we had gotten a new equinox not too long ago. However, first I wanted to take a detour and spend a few days with my girlfriend who lived in Rhode Island at the time. My parents instead wanted me to have the trail blazer double checked by our mechanic Harry over the weekend, but eh, it had run long enough and I figured it'd just never die at this point, that was a bad idea. Now mind you I was used to long drives at the time (I had driven for 6 hours or so all the way down to W&M for debate earlier that semester even) but the cars I had driven were always relatively new, and the Trail Blazer was not, and uhhh yeah that played a factor there. So on the way to Rhode Island (about halfway there iirc) I had heard a clicking noise from the engine going up, but paid no mind, the Trail Blazer usually did things like that and it always worked out. So I kept on trucking, this was yet another bad idea. After a while it was running slower and I had to give it even more gas (and it did not like that let me tell ya), but I was 20 minutes away so I figured I'd have it checked out later. So I finally pull into my girlfriend's driveway and turn off the engine. I don't know how long passes but we finally get on the subject of how I finally have the Trail Blazer, and I mention the weird things that happened on the journey and uh...yeah she looked worried, cause unlike me she actually knew the signs of an engine overheating. So we went outside and I tried to start it and it uh...I do not want to relive the sound that came out. So yeah, engine had overheated pretty badly and the Trail Blazer was officially dead, rest of my time there was still pretty swell though. And that's the story of how I had to take a bus back to TCNJ from Rhode Island, well the backstory to that I guess but *shrug*.

I was going to a job interview for a company in Albuquerque about a year or two ago. It was the only one I had that day and I really didn't have any other reason to be in Albuquerque, so I figured eh, I could get away with saving a few dollars and not booking a hotel. The problem was that I have never been good at keeping a car well-maintained and didn't realize it was ready to give out on me. As Murphy's law would have it, it died
IN THE DRIVEWAY.
I didn't want to be rude by leaving the car there and blocking the way in, so I had to get the help of a pedestrian passing by to help me get it into a parking space. I had pretty much no hope of getting it straight in the lines, so that wasn't my concern.

Now, me being autistic, I have a tendency to freak the hell out when things don't go the way I want or expect them to. I tried to calm myself down and focus on the interview, but I was in an unfamiliar town with very little money (I only had enough extra to get food and gas back home), so I was too worried about being stranded to think straight. And you know how many people get nervous during interviews as it is. All the stress from everything made me have a mental breakdown right in front of the interviewer. After the interview, I confirmed that I was, in fact, stranded with nowhere to go. I had to call my mom and ask for money to get a motel room while we worked out how to get back home, which ended up being via a Greyhound bus.

And I didn't get the job. Still stuck here in El Paso, but I have my hopes on a job in Dallas right now.
