I think, in general, you should just ignore the experience and treat SEs the same way you treat noobs. Otherwise, I think you risk psyching yourself out of decent reads.

If someone with more experience ever tries to lord it over me, however, I always tend to that as a red flag.

Focus on what people do rather than what they say. Look for agenda pushing. Just my advice.

I don’t consider myself great at mafia, and there are actual good theories out to there which I never pay any attention to.

I'd have to have decent reads before I could psyche myself out of them.

I death tunneled the town Jailkeeper, spent a good chunk of the game defending the Mafia goon despite the strongest player being sure she was scum, and only ended up hammering the roleblocker because we had nine hours left in the day and someone had to go.

Just some quick questions/comments for some of things from page 16:

@SJReaver: Welcome to our game. Appreciate you replacing in. I love your energy and positivity. You seem very happy to play and that’s always a good thing. I agree with a lot of what you said in your readslist, but my question is this. In you said
Italian-guy is town
. Now while I can appreciate that vote of confidence, how can you be that confident? I’m a little wary of people just completely alignment reading me with no hesitation and with no evidence. I don’t want this to come off as if I’m rude, but I just would like to know if you can elaborate on your confidence in my read.

@Shellyc: To be fair you scumread Mini for OMGUSing you and backed off when she unvoted you. Redados pretty much OMGUSed me but then backed off. Do you think he deserves the same benefit of the doubt as Mini? Or is there something else that makes you uneasy about him and the OMGUS was just something else added?

@Redados: You say your change wasn’t a 180. Your last response to me was . You still felt scummy vibes from me which is fair. You then didn’t make another mention of a read on me until . So what changed? We didn’t have any other conversations and you didn’t mention me at all for almost 100 posts. There was no way to change your mind because we had no interactions. It didn’t feel like an organic read change. It was inconsistent and was in fact a 180.

I know it’s old, but I’d also like to clear up my post based reads argument a bit. In 48 Shellyc votes for TBone for being quiet. Then in 51 states that in games she played scum tended to be quiet, but assumed it could also be from apathetic town. She then states Micc, Mini, and Redados seem pretty active. Almost disregarding them as scum since they’re active.

Redados did the same thing in 55. Unvoted Shelly because she started posting and votes for TBone because he wasn’t posting. At that time I hadn’t posted for a few pages but in after seeing those posts/actions) I said what I said.

So I’m not talking about reads based on a post that a player made (which I assume is what Porkens was talking about in )... when I townread Micc in because of followed by in which he gave reasons for his change in reads.

I’m talking about reads based on activity which is not alignment indicative and that can be faked by scum.

What sort of elaboration are you looking for?

'Open, engaged, flexible, and spontaneous.' That reads as townie.

Open - You put your thoughts and ideas out there. There is little in the way of hedging or keeping your cards close.
Engaged - You participate in the thread and your conversations are focused around hunting scum.
Flexible - When challenged or questioned, you are adaptive. You are not particularly wedded to any method and seem comfortable switching focus.
Spontaneous - Sometimes your posts are rougher and other times more polished. The lack of consistency suggests someone who isn't paying all that much attention to how they're coming off.

Why do I think I'll do better in my second game than my first? I assume I'll get better with experience.

Are you no better at the game today than when you started?

That’s the exact elaboration I was looking for. Appreciate you. I see you townread players like I do. I think we’ll get along just fine. :)

I’m liking Sunflower Guy so far. Welcome to the thread!

We still need to decide who exactly to eliminate though. So who will that be? I do notice a wagon on Redados, and I’m not getting very town-like vibes from him... I’ll just keep my vote here until I’m convinced otherwise.

VOTE: Redados

helo to yall
im ur new micc
Ill try catching up from page 10 or somethin to make it easier for me
But why dnt yall help me? try telling me what u think is the current situation and general impressions on every player
any specific commentary that sticked, attitude, etc
Ill try to hasten it so we can have some good conversation before deadline, but we rly need to wrap a list of possible hammers at this point, least we find ourselfs finding someone to hammer at the last minute; remember that not everyone is on the same timezone, so we need at least 24 hours so that everyone can confirm/vote a given candidate

Hello there! There are a few reads lists peppered throughout the thread, so you can look at those to get a lot of the general thoughts.
Or
you could throw out the rest of your day and read all 415 posts at once! Totally worth it

Hey hat. There was a reasonably strong wagon on mini, but that seemed to die down after mini posted some. There seems to be a bit of effort to wagon red. And as far as I can tell there is a spirit wagon on micc’s slot

I just isoed red to see what taht was about. before sharing a opinion on red, first I want u to address somethin:
U said u read 2 Italianos games to solidify ur opinion. Firs of all, u already stated u thought italiano was town before, when he first pushed. Did u read it at that point? If not, why did u find the need to search for previous games of Italiano?
Finally, why those changed ur opinion? Care to elaborate what u found and why it is consistent with town Italiano?

Either way, its good to begin addressing this now.
From what I saw, u thought Micc was scum cause he focused on sorting newbies more than SEs. Is there anything new that makes u blv my slot have higher chances to flip red? Or is it based on attitude alone?

It's based on a small sample of actions, yes.

can u elaborate?

Micc expressed scumleans on three people, Porkens, myself, and one of the newbies. He expressed stronger scumreads on both myself and Porkens, but proceeded to wagon a newbie. I reason that the reason he did that, is because he knows it would be a tougher fight to get another SE limmed, rather than a newbie. I reasoned he made that choice, because he is scum and doesn't want to have that fight on Day 1. Otherwise it seemed like it was a toss up between Porkens for I for his strongest scumread, and I think he should have tried to wagon his strongest scumread.
