Figured that would work out. Vote Count stuff pretty heavily tied Umulat and myself to OW (who I was actually setting up as an innocent claim from me with a few roles I had been kicking around, Anya claim pretty much ended that though as only option was I neighborized him N2). Impulsiveness of town really hurt them, especially the confusing hammer from Anya D2 who as a macho modifier never should be randomly hammering without a claim. That ended up meaning she was going D3 and at that point then as long as town didnt catch onto balance issues it was more of an "if not when" for scum winning.

Yeah it not any type of "bastard role" because its not lying to the players in any way. Closer to bastard would be you being a Mailman Enabler but there is no Mailman, or if you include Macho XXX and there is no protective role because while not lying to the player, you heavily are implying something to the player that is false.

Posting rate in this game was just absurd. Between this account which included list mod duties and two alts who both played quite a few games, I think im only around 15k posts total in about 10 years of playing. Some people apparently easily hit 500 a game now. Maybe more prevalence of smart phones is a part of it (dont think I even had one until around 2015)

I honestly can't handle hyperposting games and end up zoning out and not doing anything, and that's when I'm town.

I think the bigger reason people treated the mailman as town was because Godfather was made explicitly non-normal years ago so why would a GF-equal be allowed.

I'm curious to see the review thread for this setup.

GF was made not normal because people expect cop results to be reliable, I'm not sure why people expected a mailman to automatically mean town

I don't even think it's really a GF-equal? A Mafia Mailman still investigates as a positive to the Traffic Analyst, they just have an excuse (and in this game Icon didn't even have that, he could have been ID'd by Anya as early as Night 1 since we offed the Enabler). It's not nearly as strongly GF-analogous as, say, a Mafia Doctor vs. a Gunsmith, which is certainly considered normal.

I actually think it's good and healthy for normal setups to play with meta assumptions. A lot of the town made a bad assumption here.

Same was true for me here. Starting around D2 I started more skimming things and D3 I almost stopped reading entirely. I actually would rather read a few walls than essentially 100 text messages. Maybe im just old now.

One single mailman with town mailman enabler is an equivalent to friendly neighbour. It is fine if town doesn't need to brutally execute given mailman to win. Otherwise, it borders with bastard mechanic. Which is alright, as long as it isn't a normal game.

Mafia didn't have roleblocker, rolestopper, nor strongman, that gave away the fact that any town investigative is likely to be macho.
Town had millers, mafia had godfather, that furthermore weakened the traffic analyst, basically leaving town with just 1.5 doctors. Very good case scenario is one extra mis-brutal execute from doctors and one guilty from traffic. Versus mafia friendly neighbour.
