While the ideas for my Zodiac Brave game and HoMM3 Upick are on the backburner, I've been recently inspired to run a Stephen Universe theme game.
With the amount of characters, I could run a large theme. I've got a lot of really neat ideas for it, but I'd like to know if people would be interested in that flavor.

This has probably been suggested before, but Transformers mafia. One of the more recent continuities.

Factions are (obviously) Autobot and Decepticon, with Decepticons having the usual factional night-kill.

Will also include one third-party Survivor who wins if they survive the game, who possesses a roleblocking ability they can use every night (that also blocks night-kills, yes). They will appear as a Decepticon to the Autobot cop. (so, it's the cop variant where all non-town roles appear guilty). This Survivor can win alongside the Decepticons or Autobots, as long as they survive to endgame.

My hope is that the roleblocking ability of the Survivor will somewhat mitigate the danger of night-kills, as well as cop-guilties.

Problem: Three way lylo can occur with all three factions alive. This ensures a Decepticon win and makes it impossible for Autobots to win at this point. Therefore, for game balance issues, I would treat the Survivor as another Decepticon when balancing the game, and inform players of the survivor's existence. (Their roleblocking ability, however, and the fact that they appear as Decepticons to cops, will not be revealed)
Even if the Decepticons mistakenly vote the Survivor instead of the Autobot, the fact that they know there is a Survivor in the game means that if the un-voted player does not immediately hammer and win, the Decepticon has voted the Survivor. In this case, the Decepticon can easily change their vote to the Autobot, and win with the Survivor.

Fakeclaims would be provided for all Decepticons (and Survivor), and Autobot main characters that are actually in the game would be randomized (this fact would be announced), so knowledge of the theme would not give anyone an edge in the game, but would also not inhibit them. The fakeclaims would carry powers that are Autobot counterparts to the ones the non-Autobots have (or do not have), and would be organized to be believable powers for those players who keep up with the flavour. (Simple example that would likely not be used: Knock Out is the Decepticon Doctor, but he would be provided a fakeclaim as either Ratchet, the Autobot Doctor, or Bumblebee, the Autobot Visitor) They would also be free, obviously, to use whatever fakeclaims they have made up themselves.

That's all I have so far... but anyways, the important thing is, would anyone even be interested in Transformers mafia? And, if so, is the Survivor too OP?

My own thoughts for balance: A role with a day-kill ability that cannot be roleblocked.

(BTW: Not Michael Bay-verse continuity... never that.)

PM me if you have any thoughts, questions, concerns, ideas for the setup, etc. that you would not like posted in the thread. Also feel free to PM me for being stupid enough to suggest Survivor use.

I think Transformers mafia would be cool, used to be a fan of the cartoons when I was younger and was even into beast wars.

That said, I'm not a huge fan of third parties and multifactional games in general. Also don't like roles that outright out scum/win games like Cop or kill-blocking. I suppose I enjoy the game of rhetoric far more than a guessing game where someone can just luck out with a role ability and catch scum through that. Which kinda sucks, since roles like that are pretty regular. Ah well.

I think the idea is not to luck out, but rather to use your ability to its best effectiveness. Also, looking at roles, abilities, and what went on during the night are clues to scumhunting, while not necessarily being game-enders. People can get creative with their role claims when the setup isn't open, so when you can't rely on your PRs, you do circle back to scumhunting. Though.. roles like cops are X-shot Bulletproofs are already pretty common on the site.

Question: Would making the Survivor an X-shot roleblocker be better? I considered just making them an X-shot BP at the beginning, actually, but I decided having a roleblocking wrench in the works for both town and scum PRs was more fun.

Glad to hear that you're a fan of TF, though.

I think that so long as you divide the power between factions and use roles that have reasonable doubt/interesting play to them, should b good.

Jesus Christ yes

I'm overbooked for games at the moment, but if you ran this in the future and I were available I'd demand a spot.

Just put out a call for Setup Review/Backup mods. If I can get it, I'll be running a 21-player Large Theme Steven Universe Mafia.

Just don't forget about running a Suikoden game. I'd hate to have to exact swift and final retribution and deposit your loathsome corpse into the sea.

Oh, I shall never forget. I've got some pretty crazy ideas for that setup. I've still gotta beat Suikoden 3 and get a bit more experience under my belt before I run Suikoden U-pick.

I'm actually jealous that you still have a Suikoden 3 win in your future rather than your past. Count on me to represent S5 in a upick though.

I have an idea for a game. Big theme game 18-21 players
Based on the show dexter.
I'm a TV show lover so it can be any great show I watch.

Dexter, mad men, the wire, breaking bad or even better call Saul if we want a newer show that prob never been done.

I asked for any links to must reads for new mods and I would love some help from exp mod or 2 mods to teach me and/or help me get started.
I modded games before but not here.
Thanks guys

Transformers would be cool. Although please do the comic versions and not the Movie versions. I'm sorry, but Michael Bay Transformers was pretty poop. Flashy. But Poop.

I think the original post demonstrated my relationship with Bayverse quite nicely. Poop is a good way to describe it.

I haven't decided on 'verse yet, actually. Will probably be either Animated or Prime, depending on interest.

is this the thread where we advertise a game we plan to run in the future and test people's interest or am I thinking of another thread?
