it's just easier for me to understand how much time is left in minutes than in seconds, especially on my summoner spells which have 3-5 minute CDs.

kind of? And it's particularly important for summoner spells. You shouldn't act the same way with your flash down as you do with it up. And syncing your abilities with dragon and baron is pretty typical.

Do you think of time in seconds? I don't know. Even when my settings were on "seconds" I made mental conversions into minutes and seconds. If I call out drag timer it's "1:25 drag" and not "85 drag"

If you convert from min:sec into seconds in your head for everything, having it in seconds makes sense. The point is to remove a mental process that takes time, however brief, because being able to glance down and get the info you need instantly is important.

It's worth pointing out that the timer shows in seconds below 60. So most of your basic ability CDs will be unchanged.

You should be timing your ults and summoner spells.

At the very least your own, you need to know "hey, I can do a lot of damage soon! Let's play aggressive" "Hey, my ult just got used and he lived. I need to play safe."

Sometimes, yes. And in lane I certainly plan/communicate how long my flash will be down. If I get tanked at 4:15 and have to burn flash, knowing the cool down in minutes:seconds is infinitely more helpful than seeing a 300 or 270 second cool down and doing math from there. Or if you need to communicate when your TP will be up for that dragon fight. These things are invaluable, especially in a team setting.

I don't start changing my play to account for an incoming power spike until my abilities are well under 100 seconds from being online. I don't feel like I need to convert 100 seconds to 1 minute 40 seconds. 100 seconds is just like a superminute.

if my flash is down for 270 seconds that's like, forever from now. I don't even think about it.

It's only important for summoners and long cd ults anyways. But you can look at it and not have to translate 158 seconds into minutes.

Also, it came out this pstch. And yes, it was in the patch notes

I'm guessing you don't play top lane. Or if you do, you don't take Teleport.

Because being able to plan things like Dragon/Baron fights around the ability to split push with TP up is indescribably valuable. There's a reason every pro team has to macro their game around it.

End game you take the potion and give someone else blue buff, but yeah, for most of the game it's the buff

Considering how much mana Zilean goes through he may actually like both. Yeah you'd overcap on CDR, but he'd probably need the extra regen.
