It went south in mission 2 by not picking any of mission 1. It denies critical information. We still zero'd on TGP, but that was after 2 sabotages already. As scum, I'd trade 1 scum for 2 sabotage any game.

I just took Brie for conftown after his initial reasoning with me... And was scumreading in Pine because mission 1 shenanigans. I hesitated in the read only when he switched votes and approved that final mission.

This game in this format isn't particularly well suited for forumplay. Feels like something is missing. Maybe we simply played awfully mechanically wise.

Hard to say.

In the end we are kind of adapting the rules to fit the forum. For example yes the leadership mechanic is from the board game but votes are also secret there.

So I think maybe we have no leadership mechanic and public voting or both leadership mechanic and secret voting.

First option was I believe followed in the 5p and 7p games. Second option requires more work for the mod so it's probably not worth it.

That's not how it works in rl, though?

Votes aren't secret, they just happen at the same time. You'd have to PM the mod your vote, and the mod would have to publish a list with the votes openly.

Tbh, I like the Spyfall games more then this in forum.

But then again, I had much fun this game :)

Well by secret I mean you can claim "approve" and "disapprove" but your vote is secret untill all are revealed together.

What this means is that you cannot change your vote based on someone else's vote. But we can still analyze how people voted after the mission.

But yes I agree spyfall works better than resistance in forum format. Resistance will remain my favorite in real life though (so far).

I want to play real life Resistance someday. I do prefer real life Mafia to Forum Mafia. (Though a few weeks back I found I'm terrible at scum in RL too.)

Has anyone ever heard of The Thing? It's a Mafia sort of game with a cult like mechanism instead of a night kill, and lynches only go through if the target is guilty. It's fun but probably best in RL.

And I'm definitely in for more EIASK. Message me about it. (That's actually what go me back on site this time. I was messaged about EIASK.)

I'd like to try Resistance without the leader mechanic.

(Errr. Crossed posts are funny)

Actualy I didn't mean the Himalayas part. I'd probably feel very uncomfortable around most of you. And I don't really travel. And I'me saving all my money for writers conference, books and fabric. Or books and fabric stop me from saving. Anyhow, no real life meeting.

I only know the movie The Thing. I actually haven't played Mafia IRL for like 10 years either, but that sounds like awesome fun!
do have a little soft spot for cult games tbh :shifty:

pedit: naw that's fair, the Himalayas meet is a joke.

I've got friends I see on occasion who play it often and do the craziest narrating. And I've done with another young adult group who do the barest moderating.

If anyone is interested in The Thing, there's not any very clear instructions, but this thread on Board Game Geek gives the basic idea. https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/365329 ... f-variant/

My friends are so bad at Mafia it's funny, after like 60-70 RL games they still aren't even decent lmao, their tells are so obvious that anybody could pin the scumteam on the first 10 secs after people get their roles alone.
I've also won hundreds off of them in poker for the same reason.
:D

I found out that my friends are also not so good at Mafia. They play live more than I do, but went to a game night where we played one night werewolf, and I kept getting both werewolves, but we were on a time limit so no one would listen to me and they'd keep hanging the tanner(Jester) instead of the second werewolf.

We did much better when we played the normal game and had actual night phases. But, this is also because it ended up being that the werewolves claimed masons day 2, I was a mason whom the seer checked night 1, so it ended up being follow the PRs.
