Marty and Dawn moved toward Angel. Their thoughts and actions were so fully synchronized that it was never going to end any other way. Angel backed towards the opening of the warehouse.
"I wish I could take it all back." He said. "Really, I do, but we all must pay for our sins. Tell Buffy I love her."
He leaped back into the sunlight, bursting into flames. "NO!" Dawn screamed. But it was too late. Within seconds the fire consumed Angel. leaving behind only embers and dust.
Jesusbuddhavrishnathebest was lynched. They were Angel.
They were a
Mafia Bulletproof
.
They stood there for a long time. They had won, but that victory seemed bitter and hollow.
"It's not over is it?" said Marty.
"I get that feeling." said Dawn.
"What do we do now?"
"Regroup, I guess. Gather reinforcements and return to face whatever's coming."
Serrapaladin survived. He was Dawn Summers.
He was an
Innocent Child
.
"Where do you plan on going?" asked Marty.
"Back home." said Dawn. "I need to talk to my sister. She's the slayer. She's kinda experienced with this end of the world stuff. You?"
"I don't know. There's something I need to do, but it hasn't revealed itself to me yet. I guess I'll just follow my instincts and see what happens."
There was something else. A question that both of them were wondering. Even though they could communicate wordlessly, Dawn knew that Marty need to voice this one himself.
"Do you think the connection will still be here when we get back?"
"I don't know." She said. "I guess we'll just have to wait and find out."
Metal Sonic has survived. He was Marty Mikalski.
He was a
Vanilla Townie
.
"Do you really think it's appropriate, messing with their heads like that?"
Lorne turned from his observation to see the Light Mother approaching him.
"Appropriate?" he said. "No. Necesssary? Yes. We need to make sure the Slayer and the various realities are prepared for the Darkness that's coming."
"Darkness? Really, Lorne? You're just freaked out because of some unusual weather in a few fringe dimensions. I wouldn't call that evidence of the end of the world."
"You of all people should remember that unusual phenomena are usually the harbinger of something much bigger and more sinister, or can't you see as far as you used to?"
"Well it's not like your plans have gone smoothly so far anyway. You hand pick twelve individuals that you feel have potential to face the oncoming storm, and what happens? Three of them have already been corrupted by the time they get there. And let's not forget that death ray you just so happened to leave laying around after you jumped ship."
"To be fair, I was hoping someone besides the psychotic superhero would get it."
"Well, if you would have used it in the first place instead of insisting on observing, that wouldn't have been much of a problem now, would it?"
"Mock me all you want, but the best of them made it through. Looking back, there were quite a few in there that might not have been able to handle the pressure and have a history of going bananas. I will admit that I am disappointed about Coulson, though."
"Never settle on a long shot, especially an unknown one. Regardless, I don't think your two chosen can win this fight alone."
"I know, which is why I'm going to get them some much needed help, although I may have to bend the rules to their breaking point in order to do it."
The Light Mother furrowed her brow as she tried to imagine what Lorne was getting at. Then it dawned on her.
"You can't be serious." she said. "Something like that could damage the very fabric of reality. Lorne, if you're not careful, you could fracture the universe."
"If I don't do it, there may not be a universe to fracture."
She sighed. "I hope you know what you're doing."
Congratulations! Town wins!
I'll be getting the post game up in the next few days. In the meantime, let me know what you think. And while you're waiting, please enjoy the epilogue...
The Director sat behind her desk looking at multiple monitors, each displaying the status of operations on dozens of different worlds. The Operative entered the room. She could tell by his demeanor that he didn't deliver good news.
"Coulson has failed." he said.
She sighed. It pained her that she was the only one that could see the big picture. Everyone else seemed to get so caught up in trivial matters.
"That was to be expected." she said. "Coulson was an idealist. He would have never served us well in the long run, especially when he found out the main purpose of our little order."
"And that would be what, ma'am?"
The Director smiled. "Why, to change Fate, of course."
To be continued in Joss Whedon Epic Mafia...

Looking back, I don't know if it was that important for our slot to be off the table before mylo, but it seemed that way to me at the time. My reads fell completely apart toward the end. AP held up a lot better than I did.
One thing I realize (and I knew this, but lost sight of it in this game), with Nacho I have to look through Tammy's lens as well as the lens I've developed. He doesn't seem to be able to hit the right notes for both sorting strategies simultaneously when he's scum.

Sorry for being all over the place and generally too inactive. I really have a hard time getting into games as IC, particularly with early jabs like those from aa and grey (though I suppose being affected by those is my own fault, in retrospective). I was also too quick to give away cheap townreads for things like aa9's petulant replace-out or mara's cancelled replacement request. My general policy tends to be to presume people are genuine until I've seen an example to the contrary, but that might need to change. I'm glad I didn't let paranoia get the better of me in the end.
Was it my protect that stopped the N5 kill, or did nachohydra not submit a kill?
I felt that on the whole, it looked very even throughout the game, without any exceptional reads across the board for town, but just enough to make it to lylo. Had we mislynched D1, I think the game would likely have swung the other way. Even though the sum of town power wasn't overwhelming, the sheer number of town-roles meant that scum didn't have much flexibility with their kills, which hurt them. If F16 hadn't been on the line after the crows lynch, scum might have been able to leave Egg alive as lynchbait in exchange for killing MS or me.
@bulba: can we get setup and night action info?
I like role-heavy games as long as they're not too swingy, and this seemed somewhat balanced. The strongman dying, and the potential of redirecting a kill onto scum are potentially swingy, but otherwise I really like the setup. Maybe the third scum PR could be rolecop/blocker rather than BP?
Also, I love the flavour! Once more with feeling and Dr. Horrible are two of my favourite things. Can I pre-in for your next Joss Whedon game, bulb?

I read the dead thread. It was surprisingly interesting and dramatic.

i guess f16 slot COULD be scum, but if he is, i'll do a stream video of me shoving a gallon of oreo ice cream up my ass because that will suck. i don't see anything on f16's end, but aa9 getting upset and replacing out with what i said but not what greyice said kind of ~eeeeehhhhhhhh~
ehehehehhehehehe
This is still funny

The scum qt is amazingly meaty even without daytalk
This is the best two-man scumteam I have ever seen. Too bad you were outnumbered, and without daytalk. Oh and PRs messed you up at the end.

Don't tell Skype why you got force-replaced.
Also, don't say "it's an ongoing game but I'm not being specific" when you're not telling Skype why you got force-replaced.

You weren't wrong, it was a genuine replace out, it just wasn't from town
