That's the main reason I don't have the required experience, so far I haven't seen any non-micro games in signups with significantly altered mechanics.

No worries, I've played about 5 forum games (the greek version of mafia, which is pretty much the same thing except for some townie roles). I've read all the game set-ups and I think I won't need a newbie-level game.
