Hard-CC is what counters Yi. Your dinky shield won't do anything and Yi can still attack while snared.

How often does a Yi not engage with alpha
both at my elo and when I play with much better people, Yi's almost always alpha very early on in the fight

Depends on if they need to.

You shouldn't ever engage with Alpha, you can run up and bait at least one form of CC and alpha when it's close, that is the optimal way to do things, only alpha if it's basically a confirmed kill if there is a risk of CC.

also he's fast. So you'd really like it if your hard cc wasn't a skillshot.

Also, Rageblade + Ahri E max = many laughs

Had someone complain because i 100-0'd them with auto attacks while they were charmed, while i had a fully stacked rageblade.

Either way lux isn't a good support imo because of how her only cc is a not *that* hard to dodge skillshot (And is only a snare). Good supports enable their adc rather than killing people themselves. Lux can't do shit with a yi smacking the face of the carry.

At your ELO, those supports are trash since they have only trash to enable in the first place. They aren't good until at least platinum.

Note that lux support still isn't great in plat because she's not as good as vel'koz, brand, or annie played well.

There's only very edge cases for lux over the above.

I understand her being worse than Vel'Koz and Annie, but is she really worse than brand?

Brand's pressure in lane is massive. Deathfiretouch + brand passive leads to extremely potent poke in the early game, his stun is one of the strongest stuns in the game and honestly requires very little effort. It's also fairly low cd. On top of that, his ult is significantly more powerful than lux's because it's targeted and doesn't have the .75-1.25 seconds when you're stuck not able to move.

Add on to that the fact brand's got higher damage values on his combos, and yeah.
