Well, PBuG, if I'm still alive when it's done, let me know how things turned out.

Wow, my theme games never really get off the ground. Maybe I'll check them out here first. Right now I set up a College Mafia game where the engineering majors are the mafia and everyone else are various other majors each with their own quirks and abilities. Does this sound like a game that poep;le would like to play?

Sounds good but why are engineering majors mafia?

Is this an idea for a mini? Because I'd play, if so. If it's a big game (20+ players) I probably wouldn't -- I hate the drop-out rate in big games.

I'd play if it was a big game or mini.I think it'd be cool to have like an evil fraternity or dorm or whatever be the mafia or like the dropouts be mafia or something. Also what do you think about
Samurai Mafia
?

Actually, I've been hammering out a scheme for a mafia set in feudal Japan over the past month or so. Will roll it out once the social life calms down a bit. I was originially going for an elaborate theme that would involve challenges to duel and family honor and would allow players to commit ritual suicide to regain status, but unless I can polish out some major flaws, it may just be a pretty straightforward setup with a strong "flavor".

allow players to commit ritual suicide
that's the best thing i've ever heard!!!!
(but it might be because in Japanese class we have this kid who says"i have brought dishonor upon my famil" and pretends to seppuku himself when he gets into trouble)

Darn. I was working on a trigun mafia. I'd sign up for that.
Nightstalker, Can I bounce some ideas for a Trigun themed game off you?
I'm working on a "Bad sleep well" mafia, which is based on a film by the legendary Director Akira Kirasawa ("Seven Samerai", "Sanjuro" and "Rashomon")
Could someone take a look at what I have so far? That'd be great. Thanks!

I'll throw an idea in that I'd rather keep my sanity by not running: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask mafia. For those of you who haven't played it, the main feature is an endlessly repeating three-day cycle.

I like a lot of those ideas but it's a pity you can't sign up for them all. I have an idea for a 'nothing is as it seems' mafia but knowing my luck it's going to end up similar to Chaos, improbable roles, etc.

I'll sign up for Majora's Mask if I'm not in a game already. Would there be like a lot of different quirks because of the three day thing?

ok, maybe this is just because i'm quirky-
but i thoght keyboard mafia would be fun
ctrl, alt and delete could be mafia; delete, the sk; f3 could be a cop.
i don't know- i was thinking about (whoever's) alphabet mafia and this made me smile....

I've gotta say I'm anticipating Calvin and Hobbes and CB's Samurai Mafia with excitment. After Texas Mafia you know Samurai is gonna be good. I might eventually do a Majora's Mask or other Zelda themed game. I had an idea once for Groundhog's Day Mafia as a variation on Cuban Smoker's Logic Mafia, in which the players would keep reliving the same night as well as the same day, and you'd be able to see echoes of all the player's walking around from previous nights. Maybe that would be a bad idea though.

Four posts in front of you Norinel had the same idea for Majora's Mask mafia.

Awhile back (pre-crash) I had thrown the idea of
Illuminati Mafia
out there, based on the infamous Steve Jackson card game. I've been slowly but surely working on the setup, but I'd like to know whether or not anyone'd be interested before I bother, because it's going to be hellish to balance correctly and even tougher to mod, I think... but if the interest is there, I'd be more than willing to give it a shot.
Also, I'm working on a
Wizarding Mafia
where each player is a Wizard with a few unique spells (read: choices) they can cast (Day or Night, depending on the spell, the role, and game balance).

I'd be interested in Illuminati.

Anything about a card game, I'd be interested in.

Excellent! I've been working on "Go Fish" and "Crazy Eights" mafia. I've got you down, shady.

Fletcher, this may come as a surprise to you, but the front post of this thread is being updated on a roughly daily basis because I read all of the new posts. I was, in fact, adding onto what Norinel had said.

Sorry. I haven't really been constant in reading this thread so kind of got confused. Anyway I thought maybe since you don't have a Majora's Mask site I found one.

For those of you who might be unfamiliar with the card game Illuminati,
this link might prove helpful. It is certainly not your typical card game... it's much more about diplomacy, manipulation, downright low-down backstabbing and general-purpose scumminess... which probably explains why I have such a driving desire to convert it into a Mafia game.

I've thought about a Magic: The Gathering mafia.
I've just confirmed for an MTG mafia game.
I think that if theres an MTG mafia, it would best be a mini, because the big ones have been done before.

I would definitely go for an Illuminati Mafia game. I'd probably have to say "No" on Crazy Eights and Go Fish. I would be in for Old Maid, however.
Slightly related to Illuminati, anyone ever think about a Cthulhu Mafia? I'd mod it, but my Lovecraft knowledge is limited. Besides, I'd rather play it!
