I stand corrected.Johoohno wrote:Nope, nothing going on actually (since you need to unvote before you vote someone new - how could you've missed that after the rules been scrutinized earlier).ooba wrote:Well there is now ..Pug89 wrote:Sorry I'm still here. There's just not much going on right now.
Vote : Pug89
However i did not notice the vote already on pug from the random vote stage previously. Do not want to put him at L-2 so ill just
Unvote
for nowFor a game about X-men, this game is sooo dull. And we've exhausted one week of our three week deadline ..

Claiming does not give any advantages to the town. Here's why :Korts wrote:Let's just start this! I'm gonna claim. I'm the Beast.
i) Scum will be able to deduce which players are power roles based on the character. Outing power roles is bad for the town
ii) If our objective is to catch scum in a attempting a 'good character' claim which another player has, it might fail because they could have and mostly would have been given fake claims by the mod
iii) Even if they do not have fake claims , we should arrange the claim order in order of which players we think are scummiest first to catch them in a wrong claim.
But this is a good conversation starter and i'm sure all players will have something to say about this - a good kick start to the sleepy town like you said ..

#1 How many of you have been in a themed game? (I have been in one)
#2 With name claim? (Yupp, happened in that themed game)
#3 That worked out to the benefit of the town? (It was partly beneficial, the name claim didn't isolated lead to the scums - they had some safe fake claims - but it helped some, at the cost of a few townies).

#3 is a no. It helped scum more in one game i'm currently in so i can't discuss. Second day claim helped in one game that is over, but the person who claimed first day was killed. So I never recommend first day claim.Johoohno wrote:#1 How many of you have been in a themed game? (I have been in one)

Sarcasm is just a way of saying how stupid you think someone is but in a more polite way.

This is the second slowest themed mafia game I've been in. They are not all this bad. Some people just need a good swift kick sometime.Korts wrote:1: never. never again, if it's always this slow.Johoohno wrote:#1 How many of you have been in a themed game? (I have been in one)

I agree with ooba. Another thing to keep in mind, even if we believe that Korts is Beast it doesn't necessarily mean he is not mafia. It's not uncommon for characters to have a different role in a theme game than what would be expected based of of the source material.ooba wrote:Claiming does not give any advantages to the town. Maybe like an X-men alternate universe (parallel universe) setting.Pug89 wrote:Another thing to keep in mind, even if we believe that Korts is Beast it doesn't necessarily mean he is not mafia. Yes, yes, no. A good mod will make it so claims have equal or greater downsides to upsides in early play and certainly so a day 1 mass nameclaim hurts the town. It only really gives the scum info, since they should have safeclaims or, in a universe as extensive as X-men, be able to fakeclaim pretty safely. For example, I wouldn't put it past any good mod to provide as thouroughly and certainly a good guy as - well, Xavier - to Mystiquescum.Johoohno wrote:#1 How many of you have been in a themed game? I was in a theme once where Buffy (BTVS) was SK. That felt a little bastardy, but was really fair game. It's the duty of the mod to make the game unbreakable.
Rule of mafia #3: Don't gamble on the mod being sucky.
Beast was evil in the Age of Apocalypse storyline and I think he crossed over to the main Marvel universe but I'm not overly familiar with the comics. For the sake of arguing, I don't seem to remember any alternate universe where Beast was evil. Do correct me if I'm wrong, though.
I was in this game too. This was the example I was thinking of when I made my last post.I was in a theme once where Buffy (BTVS) was SK. That felt a little bastardy, but was really fair game.

Reading back, I think this post is deserving of some scrutiny. Pug had several votes on him already, although nowhere near a lynch. And the reason for the bandwagon was Pug's prolonged absence, while ooba decided to jump on when Pug had already shown up.ooba wrote:Well there is now ..Pug89 wrote:Sorry I'm still here. Vote : Pug89
Ooba's failure to unvote, therefore failure to place his vote on Pug, is another matter, and not very relevant imo.
