How do ppl feel the 20 question list went?

@town--was it more interesting balancing discretion while still crumbing that you knew the location?

@mason buddy--was it too easy?

*headdesk*

We weren't crumbing, we were dropping loaves. My goodness.

I think it's too hard as town, though I don't think our town took into account the absolute necessity to misdirect and be vague. I also think it changes the most likely win condition for town from "vote for spy" to "get spy to say the wrong location", which I personally didn't realize till we lost. If we had collectively played the beach or a submarine, for example, we likely would have won. Hard to communicate that in game though, obviously.

@MOD: I don't want to be that person, but is nsg's win legitimate given how she asked a question out of turn? Regardless, I think she would have won, but that feels pretty cheap in retrospect.

I was a rock, btw.

Didn't even realize this until you brought it up, honestly.

If it means anything I had the location solved before that and can show you my communication with the worst about it.

Not sure how much the answer to this question actually relates to the 20 location version.

Yeah, I should have known you were spy at that point, actually - it was SO anti-town to be that obvious lol. But I was like "well nsg is annoying conftown"

Haha good game, anyway. I prefer the long list.

Maybe try a list of 30?

The "anyone seem fishy?" question?
If so yes it's legitimate. I would discourage directly asking players questions out of turn, but questions as a general discussion point to everyone are fine..

:)

100%ly, do you think having a list of only 20 questions makes playing spy too easy? or is it more of a challenge being certain?

It really depends on the town. One townie can ruin it for everyone, so in that sense it reminds me less of mafia and more of assassin in the palace.

I guess increasing the location count would probably be a good thing, though.

I feel like having the available list makes it so much easier for the spy?

Why is there even a list of locations?

Maybe just give the spy the amount of letters in the word and they have to figure it out from there

That"s a nice take. List of locations is just carried over from irl spyfall.

Anyone have any objections to trialling that?

I mean idk how town/scum sided it is rn

if it's scumsided that prolly helps

if it's just a bit scumsided then do like 30-40 words?

It is p scumsided atm but yeah using the full location list risks becoming boring for the spy (its just a massive poe exercise unless town is literal fire emoji)

I'd be keen to try Spyfall a la RC

Part of the issue of the limited list is that in person, you cannot go back and re-read questions and answers. Here, making it exactly like the original game makes it implicitly scum sided, so I think a longer list of locations is better, but not to the full list there was before.

weird idea
what if only a small number of locations out of the twenty chosen were posted in the thread and the mod slowly revealed the rest of them in a random order?

Posted: Mon May 07, 2018 3:36 pm
by Invisibility
the town would know all of the locations but the spy would have to figure it out as the mod revealed them

I feel like that might cripple the fun for the Spy
Also makes it very very hard for them to win since there'd be no "pattern" in Q&As

#Spyconeum's opinion on this game:

Page 1 went well. I think we were doing good at hinting submarine, only inferno's 'little snacks' didn't fit in.
In post 34, northsidegal wrote:anyone seem fishy to you guys so far?
At this point, the game was already over as the spy was lolplaying us... I was truly slapping my computer around thinking why would he say that shit... but it makes so much more sense as spy lol :D

So what went wrong for town here, NSG? What hints got you to the correct answer so far? 'Going around in circles' combined with the 'little snacks'?

-----

MAYBE the list of locations is too small, but we were also a little fucked because Aquarium. There's not a whole lot of other locations that you can hint towards (submarine was most likely).
