Ah, time zones. So we've still got a couple of lurkers, Shelly's wagon is probably going to disintegrate soon, and I'm thinking T-Bone is next.

In mafia I've played scum tends to be pretty quiet but could be apathetic town as well. Micc, MiniMegabyte and Redados seem pretty active.

2 votes isn’t close to day ending, and pressure promotes discussion. This is not a good reason to unvote. Why did you really unvote?

I guess I want to know what the thread title is 2019 instead of 2020.
In post 31, Redados wrote:@Porkens - I stand by what I said!
Why is Rodados not answer what Porkens has asked? All he has done is avoid the question and changing the subject when pressured about it. I am new to the game and the website layout so I apologize in advance if I don't make sense sometimes.

Who has reads this early?

VOTE: Redados

And why’d you pick out Shelly? Why not N0blenoob or T-Bone?

I feel like it's pretty clear that the reason Porkens asked the question is to launch into a push of some sort. I know this because Porkens voted in the same post.

i guess if you weren't able to deduct that reason out yourself then there's some value in asking your question. I'm giving you credit for deduction skills that are at least a little bit better than than having watched you play a game.

so then I look at how you asked the question, as you said yourself mostly in jest. By doing that you downplay the importance or seriousness of the push that Porkens is about to launch into before it even happens. And you can see just by looking at Redados's posts that a reasonably serious answer was given in post 21, but then by post 28 he's basically dodging Porkens follow up by continuing on your joke.

so i overall i feel like at best you asked the most softball of questions without really thinking about it, and at the worst you sabotaged Porkens attempt to make a read. those things lean mafia indicative to me.
Okay fair enough. I’ll be more careful now. Pretty sure we’ve left RVS, yes?

Re: N0bleNoob, my first vote was RVS to get things started. I didn't feel like being on a wagon so early in the day. I stand by that. Not avoiding the question, it's just that my response hasn't changed.

ItalianoVD, I was giving initial reads. I think it's fine to give reads, it's better than nothing and it's not harmful.

I picked Shelly because she was first on my list. Now that she's posting (seems like a time zone issue?), I will UNVOTE: Shelly and move my vote to VOTE: T-Bone.

alright so four hours in we are on page 3. That's great because activity is generally better for a game than non activity. but I want to reign in these posts that are suggesting that anyone who is not here yet has done anything wrong.

For the most part this site operates on deadlines that last from 1 to 2 weeks and prod ranges are 36 to 48 hours. The idea is that you can have a life where you sleep for 8 hours a day, work for 8 hours a day and aren't punished for not checking into the site over that time. Games with shorter deadlines and higher activity standards exist on this site and off, but while we're here in the newbie queue lets be tolerant of everyone who meets the 36 hour requirement to not be prodded.

It's a time zone issue (I live in asia). We've left RVS and need to get serious.
The way that Redados defended himself seems town to me. ItalianoVD could go either way. N0bleNoob has posted once filled with quotes, so I don't really know.
Micc seems to be teaching/explaining and this could be of either alignment though I'm leaning on townread for this one. GeniusGamer hasn't really been very productive. Still some lurkers.
VOTE: VOTE: T-Bone It seems this lurker vote is safe for now.

What do you mean “this vote is safe?”

Posted: Tue Jul 14, 2020 2:32 pm
by shellyc
I mean it's a good vote and if it's a mislynch it's not too harmful as this is a lurker.

Posted: Tue Jul 14, 2020 2:34 pm
by Porkens
T-Bone hasn’t posted at all, so what makes it “a good vote?”

Posted: Tue Jul 14, 2020 2:37 pm
by shellyc
When I mean good, it's all about the risk-reward analysis.
If he is scum, then great, we get rid of a mafia.
If he is town, also great, we get rid of a silent lurker.
Thus it's a good vote, better than the other options here.

Posted: Tue Jul 14, 2020 2:39 pm
by Porkens
Does that mean you do not have a scumread on anyone who has posted?

Posted: Tue Jul 14, 2020 2:41 pm
by shellyc
Well for now I feel GeniusGamer / N0bleNoob are on the quiet side, I'd probably communicate more with them. Not really getting reads so early on.

How will parking your vote on someone who isn’t here help you get reads?

Posted: Tue Jul 14, 2020 2:45 pm
by shellyc
I can see if anybody is going to bandwagon on that and the reactions to the vote from the active players.

by Porkens
What would you think of someone who bandwagons onto t bone with you?

Posted: Tue Jul 14, 2020 2:52 pm
by shellyc
They would be the third vote and according to guides the third voter is likely to be a mafia pushing a mislynch. I'd reread their posts and probably change my vote to them.

I did not want to be on a wagon early in the day with no information. I stand by that. We "all know that". We have more information. I'm keeping a vote on T-Bone for now. I don't have any scumreads yet, so I'll keep a vote on the only person who hasn't posted. I have been informed by Porkens that 2 votes isn't close to day-ending and promotes discussion, so I don't feel too bad keeping a second vote on T-Bone.

how are you classifying people who aren't here as lurkers already? especially considering you acknowledged that times zones exist.

what if T-bone has been at work or sleeping since the game started. but he comes online in 12 hours and posts consistently during that time period for the rest of the game. is that lurking to you?

Statistically, one of us has to be mafia, and since I am not, obviously Micc is. This math is 100% foolproof.

Ya'll have funny definitions of lurkers though. I imagine some of you come from mafia sites that do games in the span of a few hours?
