Redtea looked up at the huge, looming Hectic that Tayl0r Swift had described as being the "hurricane" that was going to hurt everyone. "Oh no!! We must send a sacrifice down the drain .. er, I mean, we must find a hero to save us!!" Redtea was surprised by how croaky their usually moist voice was.
They nudged Chara forward out from among the monsters, who nearly tripped as it stumbled forward.
"It's dangerous to go alone! Take this!" redtea added. They fumbled in their shell for something to "arm" Chara with, but Chara had no visible arms at all. So they produced a Crab Apple, and pushed it into Chara's mouth, leaving it looking like a sacrificial pig. "Huzzah! I know you can defeat it!" redtea adlibbed. Then they pushed Chara even further towards the hulking black mass.
With 12 alive and unspared, it takes 7 votes to make a decision.

If we can be very very sure of our townreads, surely sparing is possible?
9:3 -> spare 1, 1 dies
7:3 -> spare 1, 1 dies, chara dies
5:2 -> spare 1, 1 dies
3:2 -> spare 1 and win
but if we make a mistake, we won't lose as long as it's not Chara on d1/d2. We can spare 1 mafia and then we like do an extra spare on d4 and go to
4:1 -> vote on mafia or lose
Wait so if we spare 4 people correctly but spare 1 mafia along the way we get a single chance to win or lose the game by figuring out who that person is?
Okay, nevermind this route is kinda trash. I wanted to play by sparing!!!
has anyone figured out the merit of the 1-3 spared players plan, or is genocide just objectively better too

( ̄▽ ̄)ノ 0 spares is better EXCEPT for the specific instance we reach 5p with 2 mafia alive, at which point sparing someone gives 2 reveals and a guaranteed 33% chance of town winning (whereas normally in that situation it would be 2/5*1/2 = 20%)
I could post the math if anyone demands I show my work (I ran the numbers pregame and am very grateful to have rolled town here) but really just want to move on from this as fast as possible~

scum also gets to kill one of the obvtown players each night, so we actually need 7 people to be obvtown... and there's 9 townies in the game. those are... not good odds.
