Thanks for the advice. I had a look at both and they seem pretty complicated, so probably best for me to wait. I’d give it a go, but don’t want to be too annoying!

there's also always a game in signups in the newbie queue! I found a newbie game really helpful to understand the way people play mafia here.

I recommend against GuyinFreezer's Game-Throwing Mafia, it looks to have unusual mechanics and a pregame process which appears to require knowledge of site meta and/or history.

BrassHerald's American Presidents Mafia looks fun, I'd join it if I weren't at my personal limit. I've made myself available to replace in at a later date, though.

May I point you to the Normal game queue, though? Theme games have fewer guidelines, and often presume a degree of experience. There is a Mini (13 players) and a Large (17 players) in sign-ups right now. I'm modding the Large, and I can guarantee it to be a smooth ride for a new player.
