So we knew going into this that the links were going to primarily be amplified by scumhunting and the game was going to be swingy. I think you should generally expect that in most larges.
But that scum lynch D1 both demoralized the team and put the remaining members under scrutiny, and on top of that they weren't able to make use of really any of the powers they had except the extra kill.
