I would like (as a mod) to be able to search topics for terms like "V/LA" without having to go from page to page to page and Ctrl-F it each time.

What it gives me now is a standard "This search term (
v la
) is too short. Please enter a term of 4 or greater characters." or some such.

Sad Reaper is panda.

It's a feature, unfortunately. We'd have to rebuild the entire search index (which brought the site to its knees, last time I did so) AND it would slow down searches due to the larger index of possible terms.

Not saying it's not something we could want, but I wonder if it even searches for /'ed terms appropriately anyway. What else do we use commonly that has slashes in it, but is more than 4 chars?

*shrug*

I don't know.

I would use google w/ the modifier "site:ms.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=asdf2345624" but idk if that will work, plus it doesn't index immediately.

Can msutils.net search by thread? Or just by forum... hmmm

Nope, just forum. :(

If it's saying "v la" is too short, then the slash is almost certainly getting stripped out, so changing the length won't help in any case.

Yeah... I knew that was what was happening, but I was kind of hoping that the limit of 4 could be lowered to 3.

I mean, yeah, I'd find all instances of Vladimir Lenin/Kush/Putin as well, but it'd be worth it to find the V/LAs.

Buuut, if its gonna slow search down that much, there's always this awesome thing I can do called R'ingTFT. :D

Yeah, it's definitely stripping the slash.

I can see stripping quotes, and of course backslashes, but why forward slashes?

Is the bottom bar like new this minute, cause I just sent a PM and appreciated the choice of where to press next!

Seriously though, you guys seem to have done a lot this past week.

Same thing on subscriptions page.

These should be fixed now in all active styles.

Yup. Kison's been a coding demon, and I'm working on some layout/CSS stuff tonight.

Not that it's important in any way or a problem but is it meant to be upside down? (ie.User CP in bold and on top)

Yeah, cuz it's not in the same place. The bolding was accidental, but I don't think it's a problem.

It's cause the styling bolds the one on top. Reverse 'em and the Index link will be bolded.

More on this in [redacted].

Odin's Eyes, why DO you feel the need to repeat everything in every possible venue? I already saw your reply in the coding forum, RC, and I'm quite aware what is causing it.

Any chance of getting a Skype button, like the AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, etc?

So, maybe we could get font tags?

Like, for example, would give you Times New Roman, and would give you Arial.

Even if we could just start out with a few fonts that are on most computers, then gradually roll out more, that'd be great.

Fonts can't be guaranteed. Font families can (serif, sans serif, monospace), but we've already got a mono tag - is that like what you mean?

Probably. Got an example somewhere else of the syntax?

Yeah. The only difference is instead of it would be and would be a catch all for every available font type.

Sure, like [align=] is a broader version of

I....uhhhh, no.

There's a syntax?

If you can show me what the syntax for the AIM button or the MSN button is, I could probably work up something for Skype. (I'm nothing if not optimistic.)

I keep meaning to install phpBB on one of my websites so I can actually learn how to make it go, but, you know, it's not the highest of priorities. :(

For example, the AIM button links to

Code: Select all

aim:goim?screenname=NobodySpecialMaf&message=mafiascum.net

What does Skype look like in the address bar/link when you load it from a browser?
