I wouldn't build PURE AP, but everything besides double-up scales on AP and I don't like double-up's randomish nature.
Stuff like Nashor Tooth, Guinsoo, Gunblade

Then again I don't play ranked and mostly dislike random bitching, so I wouldn't use it outside of mostly premade groups.

Which reminds me, what are good champions for building Nashor's Tooth? I like Nashor's Tooth ._.

right-clicking scales off of AD

the main issue with MF right now is less "people build her AP" (which i've discovered is a hilarious troll build, with help from peg) and more "graves is a better version of her in every single way"

I mostly agree with this to an extent. MF is better either way in straight up AoE compositions. Positioning wise, MF requires a bit less finesse (since R only has AoE after a target is hit), and I don't believe the smokescreen is the most effective CC in that area since they should be locked down the whole time anyway.

EDIT:

Auto Attacks also scale off AP with MF, so hybrid isn't a total waste in that regard.

There are better things you could be spending gold on that early in the game. But whatever. I guess it's a preference thing.

god I love Graves.

Didn't have high hopes for this team to start out with... got sent bot with Gragas and he immediately died twice in a row to start the game. I managed to pick up a double kill and escaped with only 7 HP left. Went mid and ate Ezreal's face, then got another double kill thanks to Gragas a few minutes later. I pretty much snowballed from there... at the end of the game I was sitting around with 5k gold in my pocket and nothing to spend it on.

I'm loving the new Graves build I've been trying, which is basically 2x Doran's Blade -> boots -> Wriggle's -> Berserker's Greaves -> Phantom Dancer -> Infinity Edge -> whatever. Getting Wriggles first makes Graves pretty tanky and the free ward rocks

To be honest, I don't see how spending gold that gets you MORE GOLD is a bad purchase earlygame. If I were purchasing a Kage's 40 minutes in, yeah, that's a bad purchase. But it gives the immediate benefit of 25 AP (which is pretty solid for the early-midgame) plus the long-term benefit of buying all your stronger items faster.

If for some reason you're buying DFG lategame, getting a bit of extra gold from Kage's Pick is pretty good.

Shanba wrote:biggest problem with fort is that her ult does no damage lategame cause she cant get magipen for it imoimo

Hybridization really helps with this, since you can get a Void Staff at some point to counter that without completely gimping your straight up damage.

I played Graves once, and it honestly seems like he's a mix between MF and Tristana. Half the time he's an AoE Burst AD like MF, and the other half a machine-gun mania crazy shitfaced auto attacker like Tristana. I won't say he's OP though, since I laned against an Ashe that rushed a Gunblade (...).

My boyfriend and I decided we're going to splurge and get $50 each of IP at some point when it's convenient, get the champion pack and do whatever with the rest.

We swore we'd never do this. WHAT HAPPENED

After being 15 games in deficit. I have gotten back to a 50% win ratio. This is big news. Climbed from 750 to 950.

I just found the old Collector's Pack at Best Buy on clearance for $9. Included 20 champs and $10 in RP, so that's the champions for free... YMMV, though.

No rylais on Vlad?

Warmogs is very inefficient on Vlad. The amount of AP you get for it isn't worth it, and you're better off getting some sort of resistances with that much health.

I'm considering trying the Wriggles build on Caitlyn, but I don't think she'd benefit as much from it as Graves does. Thoughts?

I like using it. Generally I have a game orientated slot. It can be one of three things. If they have a karthus it is a Hexdrinker. If a person on my team gets an item that builds out of madreds I get a wriggles. Otherwise I get a brutalizer and sell it later.

I've never been a fan on wriggles on a bot lane ad carry. Just preference.

No because the time it takes for the pick to pay for itself, and the fact that you LOSE money for the cost and that little AP, you could be putting that gold somewhere else.
DFG isn't the strongest item to purchase lategame, and since GP5 items are only worth having since you can keep them around for a long time for added benefit, the pick really isn't worth it since you only really should keep it long enough for it to pay for itself, specifically so you can build it into a DFG efficiently.

25 AP isn't worth the, what 800 gold it takes to build a pick? Philo gives you pretty decent regen, especially on mana intensive characters and it builds into a sweet team buff later, as well as heart of gold giving a really decent amount of health and builds into something better for your team later.

Basically, the money you just spent on getting a pick, you could have just a little more on more than three times as much AP (blasting rod) without having to wait at least 15 minutes for that item to become cost efficient.

EDIT:
Also, since your goal as an AP burst caster is to build as much damage as fast as possible (ESPECIALLY early game) wasting gold is bad, and having to wait like (for the pick to pay for itself) that can put you behind if you're not smart about it.

I'm a fan of it if the game is close. It upgrades earlier, helps you take objectives better, and is a free ward to shut down an enemy jungler.
