I'll laugh if we end up launching N_M today after all.

I know Luke/Val was the source of fireworks in the thread, so I'm glad that's settled down even though the thread has gone quiet (I guess it was destined to happen with a replacement coming). But I begin to suspect I've gotten most of what I can out of today short of hearing from the Portia slot. We're getting a little low on time and it's time to start thinking about how today ends.

My elim pool right now looks like:
Portia (initial towny read has turned to scummy thanks to ghosting)
Zyla (was heading back into null but still null at best)
Luke (if Luke/Val is the decision today)

Marci, Alstro, and Umlaut give me towny enough vibes to stay above the line

I don't think Val is the move today

Honorable mention for NM, (Luke rightly pointed out a few posts ago that most of us have weighed in on the slot one way or another so I've come to consider a flip here again, but would only be a *we should at least flip somebody* option)

Curveball: In the last hour or two I've come to TR Umlaut.

After Zyla's vote, I was going back through the ISO and preparing to work up a post outlining the reasons I was scumreading Umlaut in case that was the direction we were heading, and in the process of doing so, I've decided I was wrong.

The biggest reason I was scum reading him was the self-contradictory offering of Portia as a secondary wagon with the reasoning that Portia had given Umlaut "no reason to think they are town" when evidently that wasn't the case from 199. I also found a few other things not to like about that 199, but I have come to think those things - the misattribution of posts, the "another tell" remark, etc - are more likely the result of a player in a rush rather than scumminess.

The smoking gun, however, is the 317 discussion around whether NM would make a good cop target. I said I had reasons to consider that to be scummy, but was not in a position to explain why. I still don't want to discuss this in detail, but Umlaut's subsequent play around that is certainly not the way I think scum would have done, which is to keep me in the elim pool and try to get a couple more votes on me.

So, given that, I am starting to wonder about Zyla again. Luke was fairly insistent about finding out from me who I would be wagoning if he wasn't an option, and I made no secret that I would consider Umlaut next. I do wonder if Zyla's choice there was specifically because of that. She obviously isn't going to say so, but I am pondering if there something in that wagon in the first place. I'll have to go back and reconsider.

Another thing: I've seen some describe my pointing out the contradiction in Umlaut's reasoning for offering Portia as a wagon as a 'hard-defense' of that slot, and I'm probably risking adding further fuel to that fire.

I, however, think Portia's behavior, in turning up obviously and self-admittedly l intoxicated, and getting over-the-top prickly about minor issues - and the subsequent disappearance - is more likely to indicate personal issues rather that disappearing for game relating reasons such as having rolled scum and not know how to play it.

I for one will be starting again from null once the replacement checks in.

NGL I had the same reaction to Zyla's vote and went back to rethink my Umlaut townlean. I still lean town on Umlaut and am back to leaning scum on Z.

I think you may be reading too much into the drunk Mafia-ing. A lot of people do that sometimes. it doesn't mean they have ongoing personal issues.

Yeah. This was literally his first game on site.

Seems just as likely that he decided that he was not having as much fun as he had expected, and dipped -- I mean, long form forum mafia is not for everyone

This feels like a game where I get killed night 1, and then the town dies a slow and painful death due to apathy

In the last 48 hours we have had || from Marci, Alstro, and Zyla || from Not_Mafia and obviously the Portia slot

That is over half of the players this game that are not even posting once a day now :/

Fingers crossed the replacement taking over the Portia slot is a high activity level poster like HockeyFan or GrandpaMo so that the thread will gain some new momentum

Is Not_Mafia also due a prod at this point, perhaps?

Today was a travel day but I’ll be able to be on tomorrow and sleep on the Zyla thing some more. I’m pretty opposed to an Umlaut elim at this point and am feeling a little bit annoyed that my pool of Portia and NM have both gone inactive. I would rather do Zyla than Umlaut. Since I’m V/LA Friday on the deadline, even though I might be around… if Portia replacement doesn’t come and give something that gives me an opinion tomorrow, I’ll have to move with what I’ve got. Also depends if NM comes back or not.

If Luke gets killed N1 I would be shocked considering if we don’t lim in Luke/Val he would still be a potential miselim target.

Idk, I think I am probably a pretty good shot for the scum team to make -- There seem to be plenty of miselim targets, and in general shooting the loudest voice in the room is a good play.

Anyone other then Val would never be blamed for it, and even Val would probably get away with it too because people would WIFOM it as "well, Val would never shoot there"

I meant "above" to mean higher on my read list, ie my town leans and town reads
