The Role Watcher was the last role added to the setup; town was a little light on power without it, and it took me a long time to find something with the right power level to get it balanced (town needed a bit more oomph, and there's the potential for a guilty given that one of the roles is obviously scum, together with aiding town to figure out the setup a bit more, but in a way that scum can play around if it claims). It did end up giving town three action investigatives, but I tend to look at roles in terms of how powerful they are rather than in terms of which category they fall into. So I'm glad it was in the setup (this game would probably have been an utter scum blowout without it).

the reason scum did well was the skill level gap not setup balance

It took 2 very well executed scum gambits to win

Yes. And that's much to the scumteam's credit!

I mean, you could've won with less than 2 gambits, the only reason you didn't get a perfect win was because you setup specced wrong and didn't think of role watcher
Also idk, bodyguard would've been better imo

I think scum outplayed town by quite a bit this game, and that was reflected in how quickly they won (I think winning a 3:2 ending seems about right, especially given that scum would probably have won the 2:1 the next day even if they'd lost the 3:2). If one of the gambits had misfired, I think scum would still have won (but it would have been closer). So although scum successfully pulled off two gambits, they only really needed one of them.

I don't really understand how people are saying the PRs are balanced in the town's favour
I mean if anything the detective role was a negative force as it gave us false confidence in FL's slot after he got an inno N1.
The doctor/vouyer had 0 objective impact on the gamestate, as did the universal backup and my role only caught scum because the scum misplayed (they knew I would be targeting DGB and still targeted them).
I would honestly have traded all of the above for a single cop who could've at least cleared a slot or two.
Sidenote - if I am understanding the roles correctly adding the role watcher actually weakens the town as if the rolewatcher dies before a stronger PR then it neuters the impact of the backup.

The doctor and the detective can be also seen as town pretty easily if the watcher catches them / he can *potentially* bust fakeClaims
But i think it would've been fine if the backup herited it

I'm sorry, I must not be quite following - if the role watcher watched the doctor/detective then they still don't know who is in that role, only that the role exists.

I mean, the instinct to yeet the lurkers was correct though. Math and Zedenek both got pushes. Just the wrong lurker in the end!
Plus D1 is always a throwaway.
I think what really screwed us were just a few key tunneling errors.
The gambits were smart and bought time. Town just needed to come together a bit more and we might have turned it around.

@mark Yeah but if they ever claim it can be a solid confirmation

I'm only teasing - you three did very well as a team.
If X person claims doctor and says they targeted XYZ person on a given night and I happened to be watching then yeah I guess that makes sense.

As I said in the scum thread, Gera is the only one who called me out Day 1.
It was that moment he signed his death warrant and exactly who I wanted faded that day.

I feel like A50 and my setup spec went really well, as we called out what types of PRs were in the game, and what was left. Role Watcher made sense, I forgot it got added to the Normal queue, of course, but if we didn't send mail, it wouldn't have been an issue. It also actually went really well with my fake claim.

Looks a little rough in day, but that's how you keep it genuine. We got every single fade we wanted, every single day phase, down to Not Mafia voting DGB in the finals.'
I think we played a clean scum game, even Kkoba, where in we threw a little artistic flair in the mix just so it didn't look too robotic.
