Would anyone play European History (12th to 20th Century) Mafia. The characters would be drawn from prominent people in that time frame. They would be assigned a role according to their real life impact on the development of history in Europe. It would contain about 20 players.
I'd be on for that.

I was in the shower today, and came up with D&D Alignment Mafia
There would be at least 9 people, at least one for each of the positions on the D&D alignment scale (Chaotic-Neutral-Lawful and Evil-Neutral-Good), and the game would end when no two people left alive had alignments that directly opposed each other (i.e., either all good people or all evil people dead, and either all chaotic people or all lawful people dead).
Then I took it a bit further in my head, and was wondering what it would be like to make the different players actual PC's, with stats and saves and things... they'd get abilities based on their classes (which I would assign, of course), and, instead of targeted abilities automatically working, the targets would get to make the appropriate saves, etc.
Then I realized I should probably moderate a normal game or two first before I went trying to pull this off

Think anyone would be interested in Carnivale? The characters in it would be able to produce a fairly standard setup for a mini, without a lot in the way of monkey wrenches.

How would you fit in the Neutral/Neutral character?

Three themes I'd love to do -- but need to know whether they're too obscure:
MadTV (larger, 20 roles or so)
Arrested Development (mini)
The Office (mini)

Anyone ever done anything on more well known movies like LOTR or the Matrix etc. etc.?

I know that we had a LOTR theme once bye Macros I think called Minas Truth, but as for the Matrix, I'm not sure.

Now, let's not get off-track. My post had
nothing
to do with Lord of the Rings.
MadTV? Arrested Development? The Office?
Anyone know them?

If I can just slot in an idea here:
Maybe the Neutral player is a SK. On a team of their own.

~laughs~
MadTV has the best potential for rich roles...I hope enough people know it (and if you DON'T know it, start watching it on Comedy Central! It's consistently more hilarious than SNL)

a lord of the rings theme would be good. I think you would need to make it a full 20+ game to make it really good but there are certainly plenty of characters that would fit a role.
MeMe - i haven't heard of any of those programs, probably depends on what channels you get and where you live. I have Sky digital but i don't know if you can get it in america but i do get some american channels like CNN.

Heh...how about the neutral/neutral character wins if he's still alive when the LG, the CG, the LE, and the CE characters are all dead? That is, when the only people left have "Neutral" in their alignment.
Of course, you'd have to make it a challenge for him to figure out, and if anyone else figured out what his role was he's be killed right away, especially if you make the "Extreme" alignments have strong rolls (LG=paladin, CE=psychopath, ect)
If done right, it'd be a little like the "rock, paper, scissors" mafia, but much more complicated, with more complicated strategy, and even MORE backstabbing then in the rock paper scissors version (LE guy tells LG guy that he's going for a "lawful" win, gets the LG guy to kill the CG guy, then LE guy kills LG guy for a "Evil" win...) So, yeah, you'd better mod a few normal games first, heh.

I like the ideas for D&D, LotR, and Mad TV!
But if you do Mad TV... You have to make me Stuart or Ms. Swan.

I don't know about the US, but in the UK The Office is definately not too obscure. I bet it fills up fast. In fact:
/in for MeMe's Office mafia.

Has anybody ever done Ancient Greece mafia before?
i.e. A mythical creature could be the Serial Killer or Vig, the Aristocrats are Mafia, etc.?

A mythical series is currently in development.
I'm waiting for someone to review it.
Any thoughts on Roald Dahl?
