Some quick thoughts on the game.

Sorry flay, you did really come across as scum from when I read through.
Not sure how the day would have gone differently if I hadn't acted as I did.
If I had sat back on my thought that flay (and jmo) were iffy, what would have happened? Would either of duck or number one done something scummy enough in the day to get me to vote for them?

What would have happened if there was a mass claim? If jmo had come out clean, flay was going to have had to have been really, really persuasive to again not get me to vote for him.if there had been a counter claim, then ugh...

I genuinely think that the power role coming out right then wouldn't have done much to help town, so easily gone pear shaped. Surprised the scum thread didn't mention what to do about claims.

Tracker was useless btw...
Is it always that useless.

I would say new players shouldn't lurk so much in games, but as the two lurking the most won what do I know :) hope you won't let it happen in other games. Problem was you didn't suddenly switch between silence and chatter which is often something that arouses my suspicion.
Anyways, sorry for just getting such a terrible read on the game.

I think it's definitely more interesting in larger games where mafia may have PRs as well and there is just more going on at night. Here it's unlikely for it to have an impact until there is one mafia left (where it gets much more powerful), but there's always the possibility of picking the killer right.

In a short game like this, just felt like only clearing a person 50% didn't really help that much.

Forgot to say thanks all for the game. First game after a long break, was nice to have that "has anyone posted overnight" feeling again

Enjoyable game. I feel The-Duck was the strongest player here. When I said you could cut The-Duck away and the game wouldn't change, I was implying strongly he could be scum. The problem was there was nothing to build a case on. The-Duck's posts were thoughtful and seemed involved with the game. That's an ideal position for scum: You SEEM part of the game, but you aren't actually contributing anything meaningful. I don't think The-Duck would've been lynched at any point without a PR guilty.

It's funny that Notscience managed to pick three townies for his townbloc. It would actually have been succesful too if he hadn't stubbornly sticked to Fart Bane. His refusal to vote along with his own bloc was what mainly drived my Notscience vote. Without that refusal, Number_0ne likely would have been lynched.

As Doc, I was strongly looking for a crumb D2. I took Jmo's crumb as a Cop crumb because a Flay investigation after that ridiculous hammer made sense while a Tracker investigation did not: If Flay were scum he wouldn't perform the kill after that hammer. Without the crumb, I wouldn't have backed down from my Flay pursuit as quickly as I did, if at all. I did therefore not disagree with Geraintm when he attacked Flay D3, I was pretty suspicious of Flay myself. So the crumb helped town in an indirect way.

That sums up my thoughts pretty well I think. One thing remaining:

Mod QT (with night actions)
Dead QT

I'll leave it up to the mafia to release the mafia QT if they wish.

I KNEW IT!!!!!! I KNEW IT!!!!! I CALLED NUMBER_ONE SCUM DAY ONE!!!!

WHY THE BLOODY HELL WASN'T HE LYNCHED AFTER I FLIPPED TOWN!!!!!!

Seriously. Saw Number_0ne scum day one.

This was a deserved loss for not lynching him day two.
Here's your medal:

*shrug* I still don't understand your 'case'. And you were alone, so all it did was make me tunnel on you and look for motivations for your behavior.

No, Duck was almost certainly not getting lynched today; as Mindgamer said he was the right sort of nonentity. But N1, maybe... that notsci hammer was amazingly bad.

All of that said, the lesson here is not that you should lurk as scum, but that as town you should not let anyone lurk and get away with it. Draw them out. Forum Mafia is hard enough as it is - imagine letting somebody in face-to-face sit there for half the day and not say anything!

Don't let your memory get selective, TAM. You called his buddy town and paired him with zakk, who died quickly. There's a reason we didn't go back to your D1 suspicions... it's easy to call somebody scum once and be right, the trick is to
actually get them lynched
.
[/quote]

I'll give you that even I didn't see The-Duck as scum and thought zakk was scum instead. My read might have changed later on Duck but still.

However, I'd been pushing Number_0ne All of day one, I don't recall ME being the one uber-obsessed with my RQS. That was everyone else asking me questions about how it works AFTERWARDS and me asking.
I recall saying something along the lines of that there are two ways RQS can go. One is someone is caught with something they said out of the gate and there is conversation from it. The other is that something unrelated happens getting out of the gate, and then it usually pops back in when there's data to be put against the RQS.

But yeah. I was trying to get Number_0ne lynched and you lot just up and lynched me without giving me barely a chance to defend myself.

Also I would like to point out that the fact that you all focused on Flay for a hammer that even I didn't realize happen until he did was alarmingly stupid.

Also Ha Ha mindgamer. Did you read the dead c-box. I'd been promising that I'd be screaming if he flipped scum. It was some point after Flay called him n00b town.

Flay had I still been alive when you said that, I would have posted cases where "n00b mistakes" turned out to be clever scum. I've mentioned one such case.
I was in a dethy once where scum won DESPITE making a very idiotic mistake regarding set up stuff that should have gotten him lynched. (I don't believe the guy who gave him that win has played since on that site.)
There are other cases that I could probably think of but those two stand out to me.

Why was I killed? That made for a rather uninteresting turn of events...

I'll get you next time.
