So nacho what are your scumreads? shos/penguin/?

Well those were more similar situations to the one with GrimGroove, not Whiskers. Whiskers is similar to how I reached out to Tierce and Tammy at points in War is Hell and that Empire game I was in with Nacho (regarding Tammy). Once again I can think of more examples.

It's pretty protown to try to reduce town havoc so I don't get why that would "freak you out"

If it's a meta thing then fine, but sans meta it makes perfect sense for me to behave this way.

Not sure. The rest are in my not-town pile.

namely arc, groove, mirari, ooba.

There are players who
think
they can read others in one post.
Even if they can, there's
no
reason for other players to not be suspicious of them both. In fact, I'd say it's far more likely to see two scum who 100% know each other's alignments than two townies, because
townies don't know each other's roles.
scum rarely go "oh hai I will put you as strong tooooowwwwn and we will buddy up in the thread and win this game!!! \o/". scum usually distance themselves from their scummates in some way. town moves in herds; it is smarter for scum to disperse the town herd then to try to direct it.
So, if you can read people in from one post, I'd say,
There's a great chance of you reading them wrong and not realizing until they beat you as scum (of course, those don't count, brilliant scum play, or you have an off day, or some fluke).
there is a better chance of reading them correctly if I have played either a ton of games with them or I hydra with them. it comes with experience with the game an with that person.
There's a great chance of you thinking you can read them from one post because you go "oh they're town" and they flip town, as the majority of players would do, since the majority of players in any game are town.
There's a great opportunity for you, as scum, to claim to have read your partner as town after his first post. You're totally sure of it, because you are such an experienced mafia player!
There's a great opportunity for your friends, who know you can "read them after one post," to manipulate you into reading them as town after one post, thereby gaining a lovely white-knight for the rest of the game.
this is a very simplistic overview of the game. and sometimes I will townread a scumspect in order to get them to help me lynch their partners so that should be taken into consideration as well, especially on d1.
But please, bring me examples of you having read people after one post. No doubt you'll prove me wrong in the end.
do you really want to look at them cos otherwise *effort*

Your antagonism towards nearly every player in the game is irrationally unproductive.
matt this is where you are freaking me out. I have never seen your scumgame only your town but you are completely different here. I have never seen you reach out before.
When have you played with Matt? Walking Dead and Posh, right?
yeah he was pretty excitable there. those 2 are my only experiences with him other than tater

can't talk about ooba now.

I will say that there's a lot more to say that other townreads are town, though. Ooba has an odd opening for scum-ooba and then not so much.

It would be funny if Nacho just scumslipped in the fashion I was harking GG for prior.

It seems that "100 page away paranoia" could have occurred a lot sooner than I had imagined

Pirate, I said I would be taking a different approach this game than in those games, precisely because I was destructive and unfun those games.

@ nacho

I don't think scum desp would push me either but I also expect to him to be able to read me a bit better as town. matt, wis are solid town reads, arc has slipped a bit and mala is unsure. I think shos looks like pondscum but I thought that in sabotage too. I will lay off whiskers for now but jesus christ don't let her skate.

Maybe I'll build an actual case on you someday.
In post 570, Wisdom wrote:Whiskers, my understanding is that because you are not good at reading people, you think no-one is. You're completely wrong.
No. I'm not good at reading people, but townies do not know the alignments/roles of other players, because that's the whole point of the game. You can read people, but [any of my previous posts].

If you have someone else's role PM, in addition to your own, that's information that might be useful to the town-- or at least, you should tell us you have, instead of just acting suspicious.

I can't scumhunt mala and you know exactly why. I would rather give it a day.

I can't read penny but mala and desp interestingly intersect with the scumread on her for the same reasons.

talk to me about groovy kid

The push itself is good, even though it's probably wrong. That's not what a scumDesp ignoring obvious towntells to get a mislynch on you would look like.

When you are good at reading people, you minimize the dangers you mentioned in your previous posts. They'll be there, sure, but it's better to have some people you think are town to work with, than work on your own and get paranoid with everything.

If Whiskers was scum he would not point out that I'm giving him preferential treating for behaviors I'm picking at Shos for. End of story.
