I'm very unsure about how to approach this.

The first sentence on the Wikipedia article is "Martensite is a very hard form of steel crystalline structure", so I'm inclined to guess low. But then when I try to search for "hardest minerals" or "hardest metals", I don't seem to find anything on it.

The clue's really specific, so there must be a lead that she wants us to take, but the obvious one would be 85, and surely she would give a more stereotypically soft clue for a number that high?

I would think it's in the teens with that kind of description.

That's because it's an alloy. It's not a naturally occurring substance so you won't find it if you google that. Other than that you're on the right track. I think 18-25 is a good guess for this.

Not much point in delaying, let's lock in a guess. Think I'll go for the lower end of the range.

Guess: 19

Use occam's razor, that's all. NSG would never give such a tough material as a clue for 85. This was hard, but not the hardest. Hence 15-25 being the range.

If it were almost literally anyone else I'd go with that logic, yeah. But I thought NSG in particular would mean for us to make some precise calculation given the obscurity of the clue.

I'm just noting that when I'm psychic I'll go math, heh, although yes - the answer should also make sense with the assumption of no math used.

i don't enjoy the math meta because i think it turns this game from being a one of psychology into a one of whether or not you can find some chart that the psychic looked up online

that being said given the choice i still want to win over not winning and giving a clue like that is just more effective

hey guys isis is the psychic, isn't that interesting?

also apropos of nothing, and i'm not saying anything one way or another, but if anyone had any objections to a certain horned creature's degree of realness, i feel like now would be a good time to talk about it

The forum style and extremely slow pace of this does make me feel like math chart gaming is a fun way of approaching it

I could restrict the use of googling for the guessing team, if that would help. I agree that I’d probably prefer less of a math meta.

More math! More math!
I wouldn't mind, although probably later I'd try out Math-gaming wavelength. Googling and piecing things together is fun

It's now Team Debt Star’s turn! Here's your card:

ExcitingBoring

And the clue that your Psychic, Isis, provided is:
Q-Taro Burgerberg
.

Your team has (expired on 2020-06-16 15:18:35) to guess where the target is. It’s now up to you to discuss and determine where
Q-Taro Burgerberg
is on the spectrum from 0 to 100. 0 represents “Exciting” and 100 represents “Boring."

Not Known 15
is your team’s current representative. Remember to provide your final answer in this format:
Guess: X
where X is between 0 and 100.

Remember to use the predetermined codes we agreed on, Isis. Should be an easy 4-pointer.

I’d prefer to still allow googling since I think players should be allowed to look up things they don’t know, but I think it’s probably easier to ban all googling than it is to ban “the use of numerical charts/scales when giving clues,” unless everyone agrees to go by the honor system and give clues based on their personal opinions alone.

edit: I could also ban googling for the psychic only, I think that would work better.
