I thought you were suspending all rules?
I guess I'm not following.

I want to run a closed setup with little to no rules except for those necessary for voting, lynching and night actions.

I'd start private QTs with everybody. If I were town I'd PM some good scumhunters and ask for their help in identifying the scum, and after a while I'd try to get the town to popcorn their role PMs.

If I had a town investigative role, I'd use it nightly and post the results after I flip.
Is this the kind of thing you're looking for, serra?

Yup, thanks!
I'm mostly worried about how much help I need to give scum so things like screenshotting role PM's doesn't work.

You need to give them full fake-claims, in separate PMs. So if I as town asked everyone to forward to me the PM they received, as well as a screenshot of it in their PM box, they have one.

Don't forget timestamps.

The full-PM fake claim should cover that, no?
And I guess PMing other members of mafiascum.net wouldn't work because while you'd be allowed to talk about the game, they wouldn't. But you could ask people on other sites.
If I were scum in that game and flipped, I'd spam-post in the thread to impede town's communication.

No, I mean make sure your timestamps do not give away alignments. For instance if all VTs got their PM bcc'ed at 11:07, or all scum got theirs first and then you sent Town, or if the gap between PMs is twice as long when you have to send a scum a role and a fakeclaim role...

Fuck that, send them randomly at random intervals.
DONE.

Why not? Surely I can waive that?
I do plan on stopping dead players from posting in thread.
Do you guys think something like this could work?

Oh. I never do that; role PMs are individual when I send them out.
You can waive that rule for players in your game. You can't waive that rule for players
not
in your game, at least the way the rules are written now. Unless you got admin approval first I suppose.
Oh, and double-checking the rules for that just now, I thought of another one -- I'd try to sign up for the game under my ID and an alt (or two or ten...). Or as hydras with multiple people, etc.

Nah you could totally get help from people on site, it was fine in /b/ mafia and zoraster's almost no rules (there was a MD thread started for that)

As town, I would allow each player in the game to log into my account one-by-one and look at my role PM, changing the password for each player and then using the "delete cookies" function to forcibly log them out before giving a new password to the next player. (This way even if they do delete your role PM, you will know who it was that deleted it.)
If the whole town was willing to go along with this there would really be no way to stop everyone from confirming.
Edit: Testing with another browser reveals that "delete all cookies" doesn't do what I thought it did. Is there way to forcibly end other sessions of your account? Even if there isn't, you could still easily swap logins with someone you believe to be town in order to 100% confirm them.

If I were town I wouldn't go along with that plan. I'm not compromising my privacy in order to win one game.
Edit: And if the mod's sending out fakeclaim PMs as I suggested above, this plan wouldn't work. Scum just have to copy the info from their real role PM somewhere and then delete it.

Another thing you could do if you didn't want to let people onto your account (actually this is probably much easier) is do a screen-sharing thing via skype. Screenshots can be easily faked but if you're doing it via a live skype call people can see you actually going to your PM box and opening your role PM for them to see - this would be sufficiently difficult to fake that most people wouldn't know how.
Yeah, this wouldn't work if the mod was willing to send a fake role PM in a separate PM, so that would get around a lot of problems like this one.

@Shamrock: doesn't work, you could just show both PMs.

Good Morning,
I am planning on running an approved "Less Pressure" Open setup in Micro (modifying it into 5 P instead of 8P)
Please see the original Setup here :
http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Less_Pressure
So, I am planning to modify this setup into 5P and wants to see if this can work. and I need one of your expertise and blessing to make this work
there will only be 5P,
1 Town Innocent Child
2 Vanila Townies
2 Mafia Goons
Innocent Child is announced at the beginning
Mafia will have a day talk
No Vengeful kills
so, I looked at the three possible patterens that can happen onday1
Town lynches Scum on Day 1
Scum kills Town Innocent child
the game is in lylo.
Town lynches Town on Day1,
Scum Auto wins as they control 50% of votes
Town goes for "no lynch" on Day1
Scum facktion kills and wins as they control 50% of votes
So, I am assuming that this setup wont work. So, please add your thoughts and tell me what can i do make this 5P work and balance it out properly at the same time.

Less Pressure uses white flag, so town wins with 1 scum left. That would make your game a 1 day 5p LyLo. Incidentally, since you're lynching between 2 townies and 2 scum, it should be balanced under white flag.

Hypothetically speaking, let's say I'm to run a game where each player bar one, prior to the start of the game, is given a second account that they have to play in the game with. Like, you have eight people sign up and there are fifteen accounts present.
Would this be a Mini Theme Game or a Large Theme Game?

I think it's based on number of players, not number of accounts.

I believe it was decided in
this thread that's it's based on the number of players you need to sign up.

Yeah, the rule is that the queue you use for signups is based on the number of players who need to sign up. (The list mods then get to choose which forum the game is actually played in, but that mostly doesn't matter.)
