I mean, it's either fake or forced or some combination of the two, or it's an excuse to post - either way it's just meh but it's all I got right now

The rest of this game is basically him and I talking about the record so far, you and I talking about our birthday(s), him making that non-committed semi-meta-read thing then throwing in the jokey post (buddying?) and hoping I'd go for an all-in or something = floundering for all three of us

obvious conjecture is obvious

I'm leaning DV before Voided though - ours is not a very interesting game, eh

I very much agree about the gamestate, but I didn't feel that the post was forced. I admit sometimes I make forced posts as town, but that was the first thing that came to mind here.

You're both pretty meh to me as well. Maybe I'd go with you just because there's less reason for you to be town, but you're not actually scummy and Voided isn't really that town either.

I'm thinking of doing something ~outrageous~ but it would maybe get me lynched and then people would complain about me being weird and I'm trying to be one of those serious good mafia players (yes, I know it's not working very well) so I don't know.

Maybe if I'm desperate.

I know this long rambly thing may look like me-scum trying too hard to look town, but I'm town. Really.

Maestro, how would you describe your impression of me before this game?

This actually has me interested, please go on

I'll look back at the other games sometime soon (lol same thread and everything, shouldn't be too hard) but basically this has been my only interaction with you as a player. I'd actually seen some of what you said ("I admit sometimes I make forced posts as town") so that's why I'm not voting you yet or doing anything rash at all. My impression of you is definitely that you do take this a little more seriously, at least you seem to take it more seriously than me... :P You said it best when you said there's no real reason to think anybody is anything right now... :shifty:  but I'm curious: why specifically were you asking what
I
thought of you?

Maybe we're all 3rd party Survivor Unlynchers, with a 3-way triangle preventing any two people from winning together? /setupspec

Lyncher's goal is to get Player X Lynched no matter what
Unlyncher's goal is to make sure Player Y doesn't get Lynched no matter what

Slip!

Voidedmafia is the only unlyncher.

Also Maestro, I asked because you said something about me seeming chill early on and I thought it might have been scummy because I thought you were paying at least some attention to the previous games and would have had some kind of impression for me there. Right now I just feel really meh about it.

Also, I could do something, but it would be really forced. Is that still ok?

what the setup idea? I know, right - so terrible I really wanna try it

(if you meant anything else I have no idea what you meant)

DV, asking permission to do shit in a Mafia game makes me wanna vote you

I have been? but why would me paying attention to previous games make a first impression while in-game scummy?
reading a game and watching, vs. actually playing a game with a person are two very different things

It doesn't really matter much to me so it feels tedious continuing this, but I figured you'd be able to tell whether someone was 'chill' or not before playing with them.

And I'm pretty sure that even if you subscribe to some sort of permission scumtell (which I think is silly but whatever), I'm pretty sure that you asking me to do something that would be forced, after not liking something that I said because it felt forced, makes me asking if it's still something you'd like to do at least kind of ok.

So, basically I think your comment about wanting to vote me for it is a poorly done attempt to look town.

er, it's me being honest - you asking permission for things (which is completely separate from my thoughts on the things you're asking permission to do) makes me want to vote you, just for shits almost, cuz it's kindof annoying and because yeah, in some mindset on some level, it could be a scumtell. but asking permission for things is one of those scumtells that's almost completely retired from Scum site meta, IMO. it's usually just subtle things along those lines that catch the tell, you only see it blatantly from Newbie or the like, so me taking it as a bona fide scumtell wouldn't be logical

I would feel like you should be eager to push this angle though, and ask why I didn't have an impression of you?
if I were in your position, I know I would wonder

basically, yeah I've paid attention, but only to votes or heated discussions or to Majiffy's posts (because Majiffy) - not so much to the rest of it :P

but really this about sums it up - regardless of alignment, IMO you really only get a "feel" for a player once you've actually played with them

I mean, you can tell somebody's general style by reading their games but to go through a game with them, skim their posts, think about their motivation and pick apart their logic (if need be) - that's a process I don't usually fundamentally go through when I'm not actually IN a game. I can't be the only one who feels this way

I READ games for entertainment - I PLAY games for the experience

Posted: Fri May 03, 2013 6:21 pm

OH ACTUALLY I JUST THOUGHT OF AN ANALOGY

so if I'm reading a game, you're an actor and your alignment and shit doesn't really matter to me except as a part of my entertainment - same with your playstyle. whatever "feel" I get for somebody after WATCHING a game is akin to WATCHING a movie and understanding the kind of performance an actor gives. to get to actually KNOW how an actor goes through your every day life, you have to live it with them, like actually PLAYING a game with somebody else instead of watching

I like it. :)

But yeah, your answer was consistent enough with what you were saying at the beginning of the game that I didn't feel the need to make a big deal about it, because I don't think it's particularly scummy.

However, I still don't like your comment about the permission thing, and the explanation isn't great either. This is mainly because it was directly related to something you had said, so it seems more likely that you focused on that without considering the context in order to look a little town.

I am interested in something though. What is your read of me now?

not bad, Maestro.

but, tangents aside, I'm still not sure what you're asking permission for (or why), Deas.

(now I'm not voting cuz I'm scared of losing <_<)

oh, would you vote for me if you weren't scared? :(

I think Maestro meant when I asked whether doing something forced would be ok.

...I seriously don't understand what you're saying

Voided and I both wanna know what the "forced thing" that originally asked permission to do is

personally I don't have much of a read on either of you, but you kinda seem to just be tripping over yourself here so if you're Town I'm waiting to see some kind of definitive mindset behind the tripping... Voided's just holding back and (probably) trying hard not to lose a third game

Oh, I didn't have anything specific in mind. I was going to come up with something.

Why does there need to be a definitive mindset behind the tripping?

I said I could do something outrageous. If I decided to, I would then think of something to do.

You guys are acting like this is some really weird thing and I'm not sure I understand. :?
